As we know, Alya's mother is a baker as well. Imagine what would happen if her good friend Sabine Dupain-Cheng called to tell her that her daughter was bullying their own...
It was that time of year again, with cheer ringing in the air and in the streets all night. The vibes were felt all throughout the city, and hardly anyone was caught with a frown on their face.
Of course, this time of year was the famous celebration of Pride Month. A glorious time of year where everyone feels the love (or SHOULD feel the love) from everyone around them and the world seems right for a change.
Marlena Césaire considered herself to be a good mother, being able to raise her kids and manage her job quite nicely. But things always seem to slip through the cracks eventually. And this all happened on this glorious day.
Let's rewind.
Marinette's parents, the famous Dupain-Cheng bakery couple, decided to bring out massive orders of pastries themed for the month, each with unique flavors and combinations. On top of that, the couple also decided to collab with other bakers and even chefs around the city to bring in more diverse ideas. Marlena was one of them of course because of Marinette's connection to her. What neither of the parents knew was that their daughters had a fight months ago and stopped being friends. Neither child told their parent because they didn't want to drive a wedge between them or get the adults involved.
While the collaborations were going on, Sabine offered for Marinette to share the snacks with her friends and classmates, since she enjoyed doing that on special occasions and more people were free because it is summer. Marinette quickly accepted, grabbing specific desserts for her friends and running out the door to prevent being late to her hangout.
As soon as the bluenette got to Chloe's hotel, she made a beeline for Marc and Nathaniel. One of her favorite couples, they are. Sure they stared rough, but look at them now! Thriving and accepting who they are, that's what this month is all about! Marinette ran up to them, but slipped as soon as she got up to them. Luckily for her they can predict her clumsiness so they were able to catch her and the box of goodies.
"Thank you!" Marinette breathed, exhausted from running. Marc laughed as he held his cousin up.
"You seem peppy this morning," He noted, scanning her tired body down. "Did you run full-speed from the bakery again?"
"No...maybe...perhaps..." Nath rolled his eyes and grinned. "But I have a good excuse!" Marinette opened the box. "Mama and Papa made these and I wanted to share them with you guys!" She handed the boys each a filled treat and watched as they took a bite.
Marc sighed heavenly as he chewed on the filled crossiant. "This is amazing, Mari! The flavor is interesting, it kind of reminds me of candy? And is that a hint of coconut I taste?" Mari giggled at her cousin.
"Yes actually! Mama and Papa were testing new flavor ideas so there's a bit of blue raspberry in there with a hint of coconut in the mix. And look at this!" She gently squished the dessert and showed the color of the filling: the gay flag. Marc beamed and started jumping up and down.
"Oh this is one of the coolest things your parents have done with their food!" Marc squeezed her tightly as she laughed and patted his back. She heard Nath chew his food as well, smiling at the bi flag hidden in his dessert.
"You wanna know the best part?" Marinette ushered the two to come in close. She looked around then whispered, "The trans flags are cotton candy." The boys gasped.
"Oh they are geniuses!"
"That's a cool way to play a guessing game honestly!"
"I also brought some personalized donuts as well!" Marinette handed Mark a blackberry filled donut and Nath a strawberry and raspberry filled mix. "I also have piña colada for Chloe, blueberry for Kagami, and a few more bonus ones." The trio talked for a bit more before heading to the upper levels to find the rest of their friends. Chloe even had the staff decorate for the party that was being hosted that night.
