Chapter 1 - Daliah's Beggining

2:00 pm Saturday afternoon, June 20 . Daliah stood at the mail box as she has done for the past week. She wanted it to come, she needed it to come. Daliah lived in the nicest city on the planet, Hillard. Everyone was too nice and she hated it. Daliah couldn't walk two feet without a nice comment. Her acceptance letter to Meddlers Academy was the only way out.
MA was her escape from her joyful parents, sisters, and town. Hillard, the most joyful place on earth, and Daliah wanted to watch it burn and the people in it.
2:30 pm. The Mail truck drives up, gets out of the light blue truck, neatly lays the stack of mail in Daliahs small, delicate hands. Daliah waits for the truck to drive to the next house before running to her front door. She struts into the kitchen and sits at the table and starts going through the mail. " Bill, bill, Bill, card from aunt Matilda, insurance" she paused ran through the mail multiple times looking for the letter that was supposed to be there. " GOD DAMMIT" she screamed the top of her lungs. Daliah threw the vase off the table into the wall, she loved the sound of the shattering glass. Pouncing down the stairs came Daliahs little sister, Salem. 9 year old Salem was a happy bouncing ball of joy and was always ecstatic. Before Salem could say a word Daliah stormed up stairs to her room. Filled with anger and sadness she kicked open her door and face-planted into her bed. Daliah cried and thought to herself "why couldn't that damn letter come. I'm 16 years old, and I've almost gotten my shapeshifting perfect. Why why why why." Daliah got up only to see her oldest sister , Hailey , standing at her door. "Hey little one" Hailey said cheerfully "Go away I'm dealing with my hell of a life" Daliah said as she rolled toward her window, " Ok I'll leave but this letter was left in the mailbox and it's addressed to you...." before Hailey could finish her sentence Daliah had sprung from her bed and ripped the letter out of Hailey's hand. "Thank you, and goodbye Hailey " Daliah said slamming the door in her face. Daliah ran to her desk. The letter was sealed with a wax seal that looked like a small Griffin. Admiring this seal Daliah carefully ripped the envelope to find a letter.
Dear Miss Daliah Gades,
We are greatly honored to welcome you to Meddlers Academy. You will not need to pack. You are only instructed to bring your acceptance letter to a small airport in Juno, Alaska on June 21. There you will join others to fly to the island. You may only tell closest family you are going.

Daliah sat amazed. " I got in! I did it !"
Her parents heard the noise coming from Daliahs room. Daliahs mother and father read the letter. " Well honey if it's what you really want we'll take you to Juno tomorrow" her mother said. Her father had no words. Daliah could hardly wait, she had a very hard time getting to sleep that night. Finally around midnight Daliah dosed off.........................
