"You told off Addison and Dad?" Lexie was surprised.

"Mom can be a total badass when she wants to be" Bailey shrugged.

"That's where El gets where smart mouth" Zola says, smirking.

Ellie didn't usually use her smart mouth, but she very well did have one. And it was extremely clear now where she got that from.

"I'm a Grey, I can't help my awesome smartass-ish comments"  Ellie wasn't offended, she knew she was like her Mother in more ways then one. If anything, it made her proud.

"But what happened with Mark?" Bailey suddenly asked "I know you two didn't actually work out but did you have a thing?"

Meredith chuckled. Her kids definitely wanted to cut right to the chase. "Well you have to let me tell the story for you to find out what happened"

"Guys, shut up and let Mom tell us what happens next" Bailey demanded, earning glares and smacks to the head from all three sisters.

"Ouch!" He grumbled.

"Maybe you should ask nicer next time" Zola snapped as Ellie and Lexie laughed.

"Alright, alright. Let me continue my story, will you? I'll have forgotten what happens next by the time you all stop bickering long enough for me to tell you" Meredith joked. Sure, Alzheimer's was scary. But as long as someone else knew what she desperately wanted to remember, she knew the memories weren't going to be forgotten. They'd still be alive even when she wasn't.

"Okay..so Mark Sloan..." Meredith started

Meredith's POV:

"You should really be careful with Mark" Derek warned, as he ambushed me while I wrote up post-op notes. I was avoiding Derek at all costs, partially because he was being a royal pain in my ass and partially because I told him and his wife off this morning.

And maybe because I was afraid he'd heard I was going out with Mark Sloan for drinks?

Mark was a great guy, he was funny and smart and witty. I felt something completely different with him than I did with Derek, but it was almost a good different. Less intense, more relaxed and laid back. I didn't feel like I had to worry about Mark like I did with Derek. I loved Derek, I still do. But I think this thing with Mark could grow into something bigger, something amazing.

It's just an added bonus that he isn't married.

And a minor set back that he was majorly in love with Addison, the same way I am majorly in love with Derek.

"Derek, don't tell me who I can and can't go out with" I murmur. I wasn't in the mood for Derek's usually jealousy. So he got to be married while I wasn't even aloud to go on a date? He really needs to wake up and smell the surgical gloves.

"I forgive you" I sigh, as he lets out a relieved gush of air.

"Can we be friends? You know, for the sake of our workplace?" He asks hopefully.

I smirk, knowing I would say yes anyway, but I figured I'd have some fun. "You and Addison can meet me and Mark at Joe's for a double date at seven. That is, after all, a friendly thing to do. And you are right, we should be friends"

I swear, the intensity of his glare was enough to cut through paper. I stifled a laugh as I looked at his obviously displeased face. He thought for a moment, and I honestly thought he'd just walk away. I didn't think being my friend would be worth a double date with his ex mistress, his wife and his wife's ex mistress. But as he slowly nodded his head, I realized just how much he wanted this.

"Okay. We'll meet you there. But do you mind if we set ground rules?" Derek asks guardedly. I just nod, urging him to go on and explain these alleged 'ground rukes'.

"I won't kiss Addie, if you don't kiss Mark. No talking about either past relationships. I'll be nice to Mark if you're nice to Addie. And no getting drunk and spilling things no one needs to know" he states them like we're discussing a business deal, not a double date between some friends.

"Okay" I say. "I can work with that" I was wary of the 'no kissing' rule, but I guess it makes sense. It would be hard for Addison and Derek to see us kissing, and I know I'd barf if I had to see Addison and Derek kiss.

"Great" Derek flashes yet another signature McDreamy smile, before walking away.

"Oh, how interesting this is going to be" I mutter under my breath, before going back to my post op notes.

I can't wait to see what the night has in store.

A/n- yay! Another one! I like the whole Mark and Mer plot. It's dramatic. But I firmly ship Slexie. This thing called school got me on my toes, so I might only be updating once a week or so, but if I go longer I really do appologize.
