97. Magical Madness

Charmcaster throws blasts of mana at Gwendolyn from her hands as the latter guards by conjuring up a shield. In a pink flash of light, Gwendolyn teleports behind Charmcaster and throws lightning at her. Charmcaster quickly summons her staff and uses it to swat the blasts of lightning away before firing a torrent of flames at Gwendolyn from that staff. In response, Gwendolyn chants a spell and does a swirling motion with her hands, summoning a wall of air that splits the fire apart.

"Not bad! You're everything I expected you to be!" Charmcaster complimented as Itsuka sneaked up behind her. "Unlike your protege, who's a total amateur!" Charmcaster yelled as she turned around and swung her staff wide, releasing an arc shaped wave of mana that knocks Itsuka into a wall.

Eyeing the staff, Gwendolyn uses a mana lasso to grab onto to it. Much to her surprise, Charmcaster grabs onto that lasso, changing its color from pink to purple and tugs it sideways, causing Gwendolyn to be thrown to the side. Gwendolyn grabs onto the piano near her for support to stand up, her fingers pressing on random keys which plays an out of sync tune. This gives Gwendolyn an idea.

"Notae Evoca!" Gwendolyn chanted as she spread her arms wide. The book resting on the piano begins to float upward, the notes written on them begin to glow pink and quite literally pull themselves out of the book's pages and surround Gwendolyn; all the notes glowing the same color as Gwendolyn's mana, pink. Pulling some of the notes closer to her hand, Gwendolyn thrusts her hand forward, shooting the notes like projectiles towards Charmcaster. Charmcaster's struck on her chest, the notes playing Beethoven's symphony as she's pushed back. One of the projectiles hits the hand that was holding onto the staff, causing Charmcaster to drop it. Gwendolyn sends more musical note projectiles towards Charmcaster who casts a net of four curving limes that catch the notes and neutralize them, producing a trumpet horn noise.

"You wanna get weird? Let's get weird!" Charmcaster yelled as she summoned a louder musical note and throws it towards Gwendolyn, who gets pushed back too, causing multiple astral forms of hers to get temporarily pushed out before she forced them back into her. "Cantus Exsurge!"

A harp plays softly nearby, its notes materializing into thin air, glowing purple. Charmcaster smirks as the notes surround her, like they did with Gwendolyn. Charmcaster fires the musical notes at Gwendolyn who casts a shield to stop them and then has the shield wrap around the notes, trapping them in a sphere which she sends over to Charmcaster who sends it back to Gwendolyn. A symphony plays from the notes as the two sorceresses try to overpower one another, entering a stalemate. As the spell of notes remains in the center of the stalemate, Charmcaster quietly summons her staff back to herself, something Itsuka notices. Quickly brining out her spell book and having it float in front of her, Itsuka telepathically turns the book's pages, her eyes scanning each and every page very quickly until she lands on the page she desired, subsequently the spell she wanted.

"Melodia Exi..." Itsuka whispered the spell as she did a plucking motion with her index finger toward the harp.

The strings of the harp play a soft, low tune, producing a small note that flies over to the chaotic sphere of notes and connects to it, resulting in an explosion that knocks both Gwendolyn and Charmcaster away from each other. Gwendolyn slides back but stands firm while Charmcaster is launched back as she falls through a mirror, smashing it apart, landing on the floor on her back. Itsuka then quickly rushes to Gwendolyn's side.

"So sorry about that, Gwendolyn! It was the only thing I could think of!" Itsuka apologized.

"Don't be. That was a good call. Nice work." Gwendolyn smiled.

Charmcaster shakily gets back up on her feet, glaring at Gwendolyn and Itsuka. "Insolent brat...! Always getting in the way...!"

"I think its one of my best qualities." Itsuka smugly retorted.
