December 2011
A chill breeze whistles in my ears as I stroll the streets of Paris with Kay. The cloudy atmosphere doesn't affect the bright lite street lamp roads and the delicious smells of fresh crepes.
Tonight all of us were supposed to go to the Eiffel tower for a special dinner and performance. Kay and I decided this would be a good excuse to go shopping.
We stop at a boutique called Vision, which sold a gazillion dresses. We tried on several. Kay bought one that was pink and came to the knee that was covered in tool with a satin ribbon around the waist. I got one similar to it except in green. Next we went to a hair salon and get our hair done. I had pretty gold curls that fell over my shoulder and Kay's was up in a bun.
As we were leaving the shop I came upon a newspaper. The Headline read
"Louis Tomlinson cheats on girlfriend!" and showed a pic of Louis kissing a Burnett at a café. My throat tightens and I shove it into Kay's hands. She gasps.
"He wouldn't!" she shrieked.
"That's what I thought too." I whisper. I march up to a pay phone and punch on his number. I had left my cell at the hotel and Kay's was dead. It rang. No response. I put in more change and still nothing. Finally I had spent the rest of my change and on the last try got a response.
Louis- Hello? Who is this?
Me- It's Erica
Louis- Oh I gotta go.
Me- No Louis listen, I-
Louis- I'm sorry. I have to go. Love you.
There was a click. I bury my head in my hands. I start singing very quietly
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?
Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember
The people we used to be
It's even harder to picture
That you're not here next to me
You say it's too late to make it
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time when we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?
If happy ever after did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairytales are full of it
One more stupid love song I'll be sick
And tonight we would hear it.
