°ONOME MANUEL •
I had made a mental note to give Oreva space, because at this point it felt as though I was too accessible. The truth was, I needed him to yearn for me not the other way around, and so far it's been too easy for him.
I planned to make the most of the holiday period. There was a popular saying that if you make things too easy for a guy, he won't appreciate or value you.
Men tend to pursue what they can't easily have.
At this point, there was still no evidence that I had him wrapped around my finger. Not that I had ever been particularly fortunate when it came to guys. I needed him to genuinely want me, and I was making things far too easy for him.
This was only meant to be a temporary arrangement to keep me occupied, but I had already foolishly started getting emotionally invested. I couldn't stand seeing him getting so comfortable with Otelematel. We weren't in a relationship or anything, and I certainly didn't want a label attached to whatever was happening between us. Of course, I couldn't date him.
Still, whatever this was between us, I selfishly wanted it to be exclusive. I didn't want to share his attention with anyone else. I wanted him to myself.
There doesn't necessarily have to be any tag. We can hook up exclusively.
"I wasn't expecting you," he said immediately as he joined me on the couch. He looked indifferent, and I couldn't tell what was going on in his head.
Perekeme and Ziola had Christmas carol rehearsal at the church. This time, it wasn't a lie.
"Yeah," I responded, shifting away from him and creating some space between us. He reacted immediately, a confused look crossing his face.
"Are we cool?" he asked, moving closer to me and ignoring the barrier I was trying to put between us. A surge of anxiety ran through me.
"Why wouldn't we be?" I swallowed hard.
Trust me when I say, dude looked me straight in the eyes. I tried to hold my ground, pretending like I wasn't the least bit affected, but he was killing me. Those eyes had a way of making me uneasy, especially when I was already struggling to keep my composure.
I stylishly looked away, pretending to scroll through my phone.
"Do you have a twin?" I asked immediately, trying to make things less awkward.
He hesitated before chuckling.
"A twin?" He smirked. I wasn't looking at his face, but I could bet he did.
"A twin brother," I clarified, still pretending to be busy with my phone.
"No!" He chuckled. "I'm the only child of my mum and dad."
That statement immediately caught my attention.
Only child?
What about Pere and Ziola?
"Pere and Ziola are from the same father, although we share the same mother. Pere's dad is Ijaw, I think," he said, unknowingly feeding my curiosity.
"Don't Pere and Ziola share the same dad?" I asked, only to regret the question almost immediately. It was his privacy, and I had no business prying. If he wanted me to know, he would tell me.
