Chapter 18

Sydney's POV

"Nash, what are you keeping from me?" I asked as my voice shook.

He looked at me with sadness in his eyes.

"Sit down..." He said quietly as he sighed

He was quiet for a little bit before he took a deep breath.

"Mom and Dad didn't die in a car crash." He said softly looking straight at me

"So they're alive?!" I said happily

"Dad is, but mom isn't." He said sadly before continuing "Dad used to come home drunk and he would always have some new chick with him. Mom found out and wants from divorce him but he started beating her and told her that if she did something would happen to us. She didn't want him to hurt us so she stayed with him even though she was always miserable. Dad wouldn't be home for days because he'd always hook up with someone else and stay the night who knows where. Mom was depressed but she tried her hardest not to show it around us. One night I heard them arguing and ran into their room to see dad-" he broke down as he thought about it

I immediately got up and hugged him tightly but he still continued as he pulled me into his lap.

"I saw dad hitting her with his belt on her back, I noticed that her entire back was lined with bright red marks that were bleeding. I went to scream but nothing came out. Dad saw me and he threw me to the floor before trying to hit me with his belt as well, I moved out of the way and it slapped my arm instead.." He trailed off looking at me

"So that scar on your arm isn't from burning it on the oven it's from dad?" I asked shaking

"Yeah. Ever since then I didn't dare go into their room when I heard them argue. One day dad went too far and tried proving his point to mom and he went into your room when you were sleeping. Mom tried to run after him but she fell in the hallway and sat there and cried I ran out and saw him holding you in his arms. He was about to drop you when I screamed. He put you down and came for me. Mom managed to get to the room and saw both me and you laying on the bed with dad ready to hit us with his belt. She called the cops and took a picture of dad with the belt.. They came just as mom killed herself." He said crying again

"Nash." I said softly "did he ever hurt me or Hayes?" I asked nervously

He nodded crying again "you know that scar he has on his head?"

I nodded

"Dad hit him over the head with a beer bottle. And that scar on your shoulder, he got upset at you one day and he sliced you with his keys" Nash said still crying

Tears now started to come out of my eyes again.

"What happened to dad?" I asked

"They never proved that he did anything.. Especially since I was too scared to talk and mom was the one who killed herself." He said

"Oh"

"Then he met another girl. He was so sweet and caring towards her. They had Sky and he went back to his old ways again. He ended up too drunk one night and drowned his wife. That's why Sky lives with Aunt Nancy. Dad was sent to jail and you lived with me Hayes and Will." He said

"How long was his sentence?" I asked nervously

"5 years." Nash said

"How old was Sky?" I asked again

"3..." He trailed off seeing what I was getting to

"He's out." I said scared

Nash nodded "I won't let him hurt you Sydney I promise." He said holding me tight.

I faked a smile then grabbed a water bottle and we returned back to the guys who where still watching the movie.

Before returning to my spot next to Matt I ran over to Hayes and hugged him tightly.

"I love you Hayesie" I said so only he could hear it

At first he was surprised but then he hugged back.

"I love you too." He replied "he told you didn't he?" He said once we pulled away.

I nodded

"He won't hurt you." Hayes said kissing my head

I smiled then went back to Matt laying in his arms again.

He looked down at me and smiled. Holding me tighter.

I looked around the room at all the boys and smiled to myself

This is my family and I couldn't ask for anything better.

Sorry for the short chapter! I had to get that in there and I was having trouble writing it so it took a little while. I will update longer next time and as soon as I can but I'm getting busy with homework and sports again so I will try my best!!! Thank you guys who have read this far! Please vote and comment!
