CHAPTER 3 ~ ZACH'S POV

I walk into school late. This morning was chaotic. I woke up 10 minutes late and then proceeded to stay in bed for another 15 minutes. I finally left the house 2 minutes before the bell. Not a good idea when it takes 10 minutes to get to school. I enter the school doors at 8:45, 15 minutes late, due to traffic jams. I don't bother to go to class because I'm already late so what's the point? I make my way towards a place in school that I know of and that I wouldn't be found. I'm surprised when on my way there I spot Brooke. I walk over to her to ask her what she's doing.

"Why aren't you in class, Miss. Williams?" I ask her

"Well Mr. Hughes, I was actually on my way to get something from the printer but I could ask you the same thing" she says with a grin on her face.

"Well skipping class of course, what else?" I say. My grin matching hers.

"Why that's not too good for your education, now is it, Mr. Hughes" she questions.

"Why no, it's not but I'm already late, what's the point?" I ask her.

"The point of going to school is to actually turn up to the classes so that you can retain information which then helps you with your future career" she says.

"Whatever. School doesn't matter to me" I say shrugging off her previous comment. Her grin falters and turns into a grimace.

"Zach, approximately 57 million children in the world don't even have a school to go to. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing school with adequate facilities and you say you don't care about education. I can almost guarantee around 57 million children around the world would love to have the privilege of getting an education and you're just throwing this opportunity out the window" she tells me and my grin turns into a frown.

"Are you always full of facts?" I ask her in all seriousness. She doesn't respond, just shrugs.

"Depends what you want to know, really" she comments.

"Okay, tell me something else" I suggest.

"Well, did you know Russia has a larger surface area than Pluto" she comments.

"What else?" I ask. Intrigued by her knowledge.

"The roman emperor Gaius made his horse a senator" she laughs a little as she tells me.

"Are you serious?" I asks laughing with her.

"I'm serious" she says.

"You're amazing" I say under my breath.

"What was that?" she smirks.

"I said 'That's amazing'" I say quickly to cover what I said up.

"Sure, Sure. Whatever you say" she teases.

"Whatever. That's what I said but whatever" I say trying to cover up the panic I'm feeling right now. She can't have heard that.

"Well this amazing person right here needs to get back to class" she continues to tease me.

"As long as you know that you are, then okay" I say.

"What?" she asks, confusion covers her face.
