CHAPTER 23 ~ Zach's POV
It's been a week since my movie gesture which didn't end well, to say the least. I spent every day thinking about what my next gesture is and it's gotta be big. I can't do something half-arsed it has to be unique but big. And I have just the right idea.
I talked to all the guys and all the girls, minus Brooke, and they agreed so everything is set in motion. Now I just have to call Brooke's parents and get their permission.
"Hello, Mr. Williams?" I say through the phone, double checking that I have the right number.
"This is he," Brooke's dad says to me.
"This is Zach, we talked the other week," I say to remind him of who I am.
"Oh, yes. Well Brooke told me to tell you that she isn't speaking to you," he says, I can sense a strange emotion in his voice but I'm not sure which. Sadness maybe, probably not.
"Okay, well I wanted to talk to you, Mr. Williams."
"Oh, is that so? How can I help you?" he asks me. So without wasting a second, I begin to tell him my plan.
"And so when do you plan on doing this if I was to agree?" he asks, I knew he would have a lot of questions. I mean who wouldn't after hearing about this.
"Well the coming long weekend would be preferable," I suggest and he then takes a minute to think.
"Let me talk about this with my wife and if you give me your number I will get back to you shortly," he decides which is fair enough.
"Okay sure," I say and then proceed to give him my number so he can call me back.
After hanging up I sit around and wait for the call. I may not even get an answer for Brooke's dad today but I hope so because the long weekend is this weekend and it's Wednesday night. Not even 30 minutes later I get an answer.
"Hi, Zach?" he says once I answer the call.
"Yes, hi Mr. Williams," I say to Brooke's dad.
"I've talked to my wife and we decided that we will agree but only if there are other people going, which I will be checking, and if she comes home upset or hurt because of you we will have no choice but to cut off her connection with you other than school. That means no going out with her, no doing any of these grand gestures to show your affection anymore. Do you understand me?" he says which, I'm not gonna lie, is intimidating. This is basically my last shot and I can't mess it up.
"I understand."
"Zach, I don't doubt that you love my daughter but as a father I have a job to protect my daughter as much as possible and if that means not allowing you to see her then I'm sorry but that's what I'll have to do," he explains which I completely understand.
"It's okay Mr. Williams, I completely understand," I reply and shortly afterwards we both hang up.
Now we just have to wait for Friday which isn't an easy task considering that I don't think I can wait, I just want everything to be better again.
...
"Ace, have you gotten everything sorted?" I ask Ace at lunch. Only the guys are here right now, the girls are doing something and I have no idea what it is.
