As a child, life had been easy...you fall, you get back up. As a teenager, life had been hard...your fall for someone, and deal with all the consequences.
As an adult, well life has been damn good. The curtains in the King and Queen suite flow in it's beautiful white nature, the spring breeze bringing in a smell of flowers...orchards in fact.
Only this palace of mine would I wake up in Gus' arms and the playful laugh of the palace children."Mom, can I go play with Ames and Asher?" Arizona pleaded at the edge of the bed, not hesitating to pounce on my hip.
"Owh, Arizona!" I laughed, picking him up and placing him on his fathers chest. "Now wake him up..." Arizona pounded at his chest and rocked the mattress in his blue striped pajamas. "DA-AD-DY!"
When Gus woke, he didn't hesitate to give me an evil glare, but his eyes softened at his sons touch, and my youthful laugh. "God, son, yes! Go!" Gus laughed, kicking back the comforter as our ten year old hit maximum speeds out the room to play with his "aunt" and "uncle."
"We want to go!" Bethlehem and Coraline chorused entering our room, both an echo of my mothers image.
"Well go," I laugh. "Have fun, but not to much-" they left me in the dust. "-cake..."
Dad entered moments later, his gray hair whisked back and his blue suit ironed to a T, extraordinarily matching Wanda who came in behind him holding our toddler, Dean.
"I think he looks like me, Del." Dad told me once again as I chuckled, "he doesn't have the red hair, but I see it too. Is that what you been wanting to here?" This old man has been bugging me since Deans pure existence.
Augustus comes around the bedside, Eleanor in his grasp as she kicks back into another nap.
"Now that ones gonna look like your mom..." Wanda said, obviously obtaining the Atlin accent, as Gus simply nodded.
"Here," and dad took her from his grasp. "Go get some sleep...we got it from here." He said, reuniting with Hero and Everette in the hall.
I finally breath, walking away from the doorway and catching my sight at the gardens, stopping by the terrace window.
"What a life..." I laugh as Gus walks over and I dig my face into my husbands chest.
"...agreed." He presses his soft lips to my forehead
"So, is this our The End?" I ask, and his hands move down my gown and to my stomach which has reached my four months measurements.
"Darling..." And he moves his hands to my face and envelopes my lips with his in this love that makes the angels in heaven envy our presence. "...this is just the beginning."
