"He hates me..." I mutter to my maids as they do the usual doll up.
"Hate is such a strong word. Agitated? Maybe, but hate? The only thing that boy hates is rebels and rumors. Trust me, I should know! I was Tinsley's age changing his diaper." Mrs. Patsy, says, making sure my long flowing black gown isn't feeling itchy in any places.
"He told me to go back to my room..." I take a huge breath, "...probably going to send me home today."
"You know what? Don't stress it!" Mrs. Patsy holds my shoulder,
"Just go enjoy your breakfast, and I know that boy and his families past...he won't send you home."So after Patsy and mines discussion, I left my room in silence. I look as if I'm dressed fancy for a funeral, with my hair up in pins with a gloomy expression.
"Woah, that's a sudden change!" Says Charleston, looking stunning as always in a lavender gown with her fire like hair in curls.
"What's a sudden change?"
"Your attitude. Yesterday you looked as if you could jump of bridge and skip away happily. Now..." She looks deeply into my expression, "what's wrong?" Her pale cold hands tighten around my wrist as she pulls me behind the crowd of girls.
"Uhm...you know what? Nothing. Just a minor headache." I brush off the stress like Mrs. Patsy told me too. If I was to leave, I wouldn't want them knowing about what had truly happened.
So I continued down the hall with the rest of the twenty-eight girls as we all strolled into the lower corridor and into the dinning hall, in which the royal family waited for us.
Right behind a loyal Charleston, I curtsied to the King and Queen, who looked ravishing as always; Princess Aria, who just smiled with her tiara flat upon her head; A baby Alexandra who was being gently held by the servant; Then lastly, Prince Augustus. Without a glance to his eye, I curtsied, positive he wouldn't look at me back or even respond in that matter.Only a couple more steps...just a couple more until I reach my seat and I can sit, eat, and listen to Allissa's wondrous stories. That's when I feel a nag on the bottom of my dress, my feet stay backward as the rest of my body flies forward and onto the floor. I look up to see the pepped up pest known as Piper Star, pull her heel back under the table.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Says Piper, eager to "help" me up.
"It's fine, I got it..." I say, gripping my hand upon the table lifting myself up.
I hear the wondering giggles and smart remarks across the room.
The royals stand in disbelief that a girl just tripped on their floor. I quickly rush to my seat, my eyes flowing with liquid.
Despite the little whispers, I sit and begin to fill my plate along with everyone else.
"Are you okay?" Allissa asks, her hazel eyes full of sympathy as she reaches out, her hand on mine.
I look up, the tears leaking down my face from utter embarrassment, "Couldn't be better." I say, putting on a twisted smile.
"Come here." She takes her thumb and traces under my eyes, wiping away my product from the misfortunate incident.
After minutes of eating my misery away, breakfast is over. My stay here lasted at least twenty minutes longer than expected.
Except of going to my room, and sleeping (my favorite hobby), I decide to join the rest of the ladies by going to the Women's Room.
There, girls draw, paint, even play their favorite instrument. Though I, just sit awkwardly in the corner, staring off into the windows at the gardens where I made a terrible mistake.
"Hello..." I turn my head to see Princess Aria in a pink day gown with her brown hair is straight down her back. She appears a lot like Queen Hero, small, but broad minded.
"Oh, Princess A-" but she waves her manicured hand gently in front of my "about to curtsy" body, and says in a light tone,
"No need for that. I'm not royalty to you. I'm a friend. So friend, what's your name again?"
I let out a quirky laugh as I sit back down, with her across from me on the sofa, "I'm Delilah."
"That's a gorgeous name...anyways, I saw what happened back there. I know heels can be a pain! Plus I like the way you handled it. You didn't have a dramatic break down or run out bawling your eyes out. You concealed yourself...partly, I saw a tear or two, but you didn't freak out...almost like a princess." She says, her light brown eyes reflecting from the window along with the lamps and all the other girls chattering amongst themselves.
I hold back a scoffed laugh, "Yeah, me being a princess? That's like saying dogs giving French lessons...it just isn't going to happen."
"Don't be so down, I pretty sure you have just as much of a chance as everyone else in here." Her eyes are full of sympathy.
"Princess Aria, can I ask you a question?" Her eyes cringe in thought...
"Why do we question those around us?" The question was spoken slowly, and truthfully. Why do we question those around us? Like the way I assumed Prince Augustus was shallow, and Charleston was to smart for her own good- and I was wrong for both.
"Because we want to make sure we are set in the right environment, where no harm will come to us physically or mentally. Like love for example. We question those who we'll probably soon love, just because we want to know ahead of time to see if their hearts are worth our time. After all, Lady Delilah, we all fear the unknown aspects of the future, therefore we are admonish about original things; such as who we hang out with, or as simple as who we hand out heart too. No one ever said that didn't lead to the best in life. No one."
