"Jack," I instructed my new friend into the long main hall way. "this is sort of the trunk of a tree. It branches off to almost everything you need. Besides the rooms, those are up there." I point towards the ceiling, which I never noticed is detailed of people dancing in a ball room, with a crystal chandelier dangling above our faces.
I showed him the dining room, grand hall, gardens, library, theater, and the women's room (which I had to introduce to him anonymously, considering the No Boys bill.)
I walk with him up the steep staircases, watching other girls walk around up and down the shafts next to me.
"So, Jack, how old are you?"
He watches his new shining black shoes as he steps up the staircase beside me, "6."
I nod, "Seems to me your pretty elderly." I laugh, as he catches my joke.
"Your pretty intelligent kid...what's your favorite hobby?"
He looks up now that we finally reach the hall, leading one way to the rooms and the other to a cult of doors.
"I like to paint."
"Painting? Not what I expected; though lucky for you, this is the at gallery!" I walk to a beige door, and nod to the guard who let's us in as ordered.
The walls are a light turquoise with morals decking them in a black silhouette. High above the average wall art, are canvas resting in frames. Some the most famous ever.
Jack's eyes light up at the sight.
In the center of the room, is a circle of famous sculptures.
Jack places his hand next to the statue of clay before I admonish him, "I wouldn't do that. It's very fragile."
Then in the middle of the silence, I ask, "So, Jack, would you like to paint something?"
His face brightens at the thought I rush to get supplies from the crafty closet in the corner of the room.
I place out two easels, two canvas, and whole lot of paint.
Jack and I instantly begin our undiscovered masterpiece.
I begin with some light natural tones, panting fall leaves on the floor of the rough earth. Though all it looks like is a clump of orange, yellow, and brown polka dots in front of an naked Christmas tree.
Jack however painted a girl. She was averagely tall with freckles and long sandy blonde hair.
"Whose that Jack?" I ask, stepping forward eyeing his unmistakeable fantastic work.
"You."
At first I'm taken back, but then the resemblance of the freckles and my long curly hair sinks into frame. He was painting me as I painted an ugly clunk of nature.
However this piece of me had on a huge white dress with a tiara placed on my head.
"Look Delilah, your a princess."
My stomach drops, staring at his adorable painting of the unimaginable thing. To add on to the sudden terror, the door behind me opens, and I witness Genevieve waltzing in her with girl, with Augustus wrapped around her finger.
I quickly hover above Jack, blocking the painting immediately. I don't need her saying anything to him about the painting because I'd hate for Augustus to have a toothless date.
When he turns his broad masculine figure, his eyes catch mine pleasantly as he smirks.
"Hello Lady Delilah."
I nod back fairly quickly.
"What do you have here buddy?" He asks, standing in front of my referring to the hidden Jack.
I slowly move, exposing the painting. He doesn't even have to ask what it is, as he looks up at me and smiles.
"That, is absolutely amazing Jack! I would put in our hall of fame up there," he points to all the famous artwork, "but I'm almost positive Ms. Delilah would like to keep it."
I nod in agreement as Jack blushes and takes the canvas off the easel, placing the painting of hope in my hands. That's when he begins another.
"So, Augustus..." I whisper, bringing him towards a sculpture as Genevieve circles the room with the girl she treats like a slave. "Yes?"
"How's the date going with Genevieve?"
He looks at my wide eyed for a moment then whispers, "Listen, your my friend right?"
I just got friend zoned.
I nod mumbling, "Ye-Yeah."
His emotions turns into a twisted expression, "I like her and all, but she's just very-" his eyes grow big and he does a dramatic hand gesture.
"No words can even begin to describe what I've been threw with her..." I whisper back.
His sea green eyes squint together at the thought and begins to question before I interrupt...
"You know what, Augustus, I shouldn't be here...y'all are obviously on a date, and it's clearly none of my business. Just keep it," my actions move quicker than my words as I place my hand on his attire right above his heart, "locked until your sure. I know you wouldn't something that you would eventually regret. So make sure no PDA, because girls can be highly dramatic." I laugh it off like I'm unlike every other teenage female with hormones, but truth is I just don't want him ruining his chances with others if I can't be with him.
After a moment of a questioning stare, and sends me a nice glow,
"Thanks Delilah, I knew I could count on you."
I nod to him, and me and Jack go out the room, with the painting in my hand. I shut the door behind me, instantly feeling bad for Augustus to be behind closed doors with Genevieve.
We round a corner, and that's when I see my friend that probably hates my guts at the moment.
She stuck in a parallel universe, as well as me as I stare at her, her mocking me.
"Hello, Charleston."
She stands for a moment blankly, and then does a semi-circle around me to the other end of the hall.
I feel wrong, but not hiding therefore causing the reap of her cousin. She has every right to be upset with me, but I never knew that we could go this long without talking to me.
The last time we spoke, was before breakfast yesterday, and she accidentally answered my question, not remembering the incident.
"Is she your friend?" Jack asks, his African accent on point as we trudge down the hall towards his room where he'll be staying in.
I just shake my head, "She's my friend, but I don't know if I'm hers."

A/N
Sorry I haven't posted in a while! With the holidays and school, I've been busy.
-
I'll try my best to keep updating, but the Christmas holidays are coming up. I'll ever do a special Christmas chapter specifically for this! I'll even try to update either on Christmas Eve, Christmas, or the day after Christmas- since I'll be into the spirit and all!
-
Im going to start doing QOTC (Question of the Chapter) which won't be entirely about the story, but just about random things.
QOTC: What did you ask for Christmas?
AOTC: I mainly asked for book store gift cards. Lol!
