Casey

"Geez Casey, what the hell happened to you?" Kelly asked as I walked in. "Rough night, Gabbys struggling." "How many weeks?" Shay asked as I lent against the ambo. "36. She's got dizzy spells again." "Has she been to the doctor?" "She's going today. Listen if she comes past, any chance you could just look at her? Take her blood pressure. I'm worried and I don't think she'll tell the doctor the whole story." "Don't stress, I'll talk to her." "Thanks Shay." I walked down the corridor and into Chiefs office. "Hey I got an answer on Dawson." "And?" "She's happy for you to fill the spot, she'll come back on ambo for a couple months after the baby is born and then she'll try transfer onto truck once this candidates done." "Sounds like a plan, thanks Casey." I nodded and walked into the change room to change out.

Kelly

Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61. Jumper. Centre Way Shopping Mall.

We grabbed our turn out gear and jumped in the squad truck. Jumper. Before we get to every scene I try and run through courses of action for different scenarios. Jumper. First thing we do is get the pillow inflated and on the ground to catch someone if they do jump. I'll harness up with Casey and we will climb to get to the person. Once we arrived at the scene, I realised this situation was very different. "The man, he pried open the doors on the fifth floor and he's starting on the beams. The elevator is sitting on the ground floor and is now blocked off from people using it," I woman from management told me. "Otis get the elevator going again. Bring it up to floor 4, that way there is less to fall. After that I want the pillow dropped and sitting on top of it. Inflate it. Casey and I will harness up and make the climb. Got it?" I called. "Copy that lieutenant," numerous people called.

Matt

"Hey what's your name?" I asked stepping out onto the railing with my harness on. "Please leave me alone." "My names Matt. I'm just going to come a little closer. My friend Kelly is coming in behind me okay?" "Okay." The elevator slowly started to move up towards us. "No! No stop!" He screamed. "It'll crush us!" "I promise it won't. We are just bringing it up so you don't fall okay?" "It'll crush us!" "What's your name?" "Liam." "Alright Liam, I'm coming a bit closer again. I have this rope. Do you reckon you can wrap it around your arms?" "I- I don't know. I, I just want to jump! Leave me alone!" "You don't want to do that, trust me. You've got something to live for." The pillow started to inflate on top of the elevator after it reached the 4th floor. "Like what?" "Don't you have a parter, any kids?" I asked. "My little girl, she's really sick. I just can't do it anymore." "How olds your daughter?" "She's 5. She has a genetic condition we don't know where from." "Hey Liam when she gets through this she is going to need her dad." "She isn't going to get through this." "You don't know that. With your strength and support she will." "But it's so hard.." "Liam, your daughter is 5. In five years I want you to think and remember all the beautiful moments you have shared with her. She is going to get through this and have so many more of these moments. Don't you want to be apart of that?" "Yes," he nodded. I took another step towards him. "Okay, I'm going to pass you the rope and I need you to wrap it around your wrists, and we can walk back together okay?" "Okay."

He looped both the ropes around his wrists and  I put my hand on his shoulder. "Let's go."
