Maya POV
A month passed, Lucas and I tried to be as discrete as possible.
My mom almost caught us 3 times.
Lucas' mom almost caught us 2 times.
And Zay.
He already knew.
Reason being, he caught us, pretty closely and Huckleberry couldn't "lie" to his friend.
I don't understand how he could have been anything OTHER than a moral compass.
At least, now, Zay was kind of like our cover. Which makes it harder to set the mood thinking about how Zay is on the other side of the door.
So we found ourselves sneaking away from Zay too.
I couldn't blame Lucas because I almost spilled to Riley at the bay window. Five. Times.
That window has magical powers I swear.
But here I was, sucking face with Lucas instead of eating lunch.
To be honest, I was really hungry.
Making out with Ranger Rick was so much better.
"Mmm... mm- Maya?" Lucas came up for air.
I was sitting on the janitor cart with my legs wrapped around his waist with his hands gripping my thighs. Romantic.
"What?" I took a deep breath and big my lip.
"Are you sure you are ok with this? I-I don't feel good taking advantage of you. Especially since I know you do like me."
"We don't need to have this conversation every time Huckleberry. I'm fine. Are you ok with this?"
"Yeah, Yeah. I'm good."
"Ok then-"
My phone vibrated in my pocket.
"Woah there Maya...."
"Shut up, it's my phone," I reached into my pocket and checked my phone, "It's Riley."
I answered the call and put it to my ear. Lucas backed away so Riley couldn't hear any breathing.
"Hey Riles. What's up?"
"Maya Penelope Hart! I thought we were supposed to have lunch today. Where are you?"
Shit.
"I, uh, forgot!"
"Ok, no problem. A late lunch is better than no lunch at all! So, where are you?"
"Um... I, er.. went to one of my teachers to ask them about my grade."
I put my hand to my head, I would never do that.
"You would never do that," I heard her laugh on the other side, "I'll meet you at the cafe in 5!" She hung up.
Shit.
"Sorry Cowboy, we are gonna have to cut today short."
"Uh, ok." He stood at the door scratching the back of his neck.
He looked really cute.
"See you in history Sundance!" I turned the door knob.
"Wait, Maya.."
"What?" I turned facing him.
He was slightly frowning, as if to carefully plan out what he wanted to say, "Nevermind."
I shrugged and walked out the door.
I wonder what he wanted to say. What could he possibly have said?
