Maya POV
My dear alarm woke me up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. My eyelids felt so heavy.
Oh! It was Monday! Yay!!!
I could already tell it was going to be a bad day.
I met Riley on the subway and she was already in her super elated mood. Just as always. I couldn't help from smiling although I'm sure I was physically incapable of doing so today.
"ITS MONDAY!" Riley cheered as I sat down next to her.
"Ow Ow Ow," My head throbbed at the temples revealing a headache.
"Maya, it's an awesome day, and I know it's the first school day since Lucas and I broke up, but puppies and other baby animals exist and that feeds my joy until I die." Riley was really trying to get over him.
"Good. Because I will hurt him, I have enough resentment over him until I die." I pulled her into a deep hug.
My eyes floated over a advertisement on the wall about one way flights to Texas from NYC. My whole body shuttered and every square inch was covered with goosebumps.
Texas.
I pushed away the thought and went back to half listening to Rileys' long list of other things to be happy about.

The school day was as boring as they always are but I found myself zoning out more than usual, even in Mr. Matthews class.
"Maya," He interjected as he snapped me out of my empty gaze, "Care to explain what I just said?"
"Huh? Oh no, I don't understand Matthews, sorry." I looked him sincerely in the eye hoping he won't give me another lecture, knowing he would.
"Maya-"
"Mr. Matthews, may I?"
"Yes, Please." And he sat down as steps followed to the front of the class.
Farkle cleared his throat, "BELGIUM 1831 MR. MATTHEWS PLEASE PLEASE I AM STILL WAITING"
Zay and Lucas got up behind me and dragged Farkle out of class. They came back 30 seconds later.
"I'm good, I'm good. Thank you, I am Farkle!" Farkle took deep breaths and walked back to his seat behind Riley. Zay and Lucas came in behind him.
As Lucas walked to his desk he flashed me a wink.
Seriously, what the hell was his problem.
"Maya, just please pay attention from now on." And he continued his lesson.
After School I was at my locker when someone came up behind me and pinched at my waist. Needless to say, I was scared out of my skin.
I turned around to see who it was.
Ranger Rick.
"Hello ma'am." He flashed me his million dollar smile.
"Huckleberry, what a delight," I turned to face him with my hand on my hip," Now save me the time and tell me what you want."
"You."
My heart stopped. "Wait, what?"
He started to laugh, "I am messing with you short stack."
"Oh, yeah." I laughed nervously.
"Unless you want a repeat of what happened in Texas." He shot me another wink.
My shoulders tensed at the mention of it again. My face got hot and my palms started to sweat.
"I am actually here because Farkles birthday is coming up and I want to plan him something, I was going to talk to Riley but I decided that wasn't a great idea, so here I am."
"Yeah, yeah sure just text me I gotta go." I slammed my locker and speed walk towards the main doors.
"Bye, Maya!" Lucas said after me, and I could hear the smile of satisfaction in his tone, as he knew he made me squirm.
