Maya POV
Everything was going great.
Mom and Shawn were having a baby.
Lucas and I were moving along good in our relationship.
And then, December 27th. Everything changed.
Mom and Shawn started to prepare for the baby more, she was 5 months along now and the baby was coming faster than expected.
Everything was moving so quickly.. they almost forgot about me.
Not completely, but still.
They would eat dinner and forget to call me down, go grocery shopping and never buy anything for me to eat. It was all the new baby, all the time.
I didn't have the heart to tell them. They were so happy that I didn't wanna ruin it for them. Who am I to tell them they're forgetting about their kid when they're so focused on the baby. A baby should be their priority anyways. I can take care of myself.
But still, I was lonely. So, i expected my boyfriend to be there for me.
Lucas the Good, however, was so tired and busy with baseball, he barely had time with me. And even if he did, he was out with his mom or Zay.
Riley was busy, too. She took up writing, and began to write a novel. We would hang out but then, bam, inspiration strikes and she would begin to write for hours. Leaving me with nothing to do but watch her.
Christmas Day came and I had made plans with Lucas to exchange gifts and go ice staking in Central Park. We had made the plans weeks before, but every time I called or texted I got no response.
"Hey Lucas."
"Maya, hey, what's up?" He responded when he answered the phone that day.
Tears filled my eyes as I heard his voice for the first time in a week.
I cleared my throat, "Um, just double checking what time you want to meet in Central Park."
"Central Park......."
He forgot. Great.
"Exchanging gifts and ice skating" You asshole.
Which I wanted to say but didn't.
"Oh! Rightt.. yeah, um, how's 4?"
"4 is good."
"Alright, I will see you there."
"Bye.. I love you."
"Bye"
He hung up, no 'I Love You'.
I met him at the park and he gave me a hug.
Ouch, I was expecting a little more after a week.
We exchanged our gifts and ice skated for a little.
We were quiet and spoke seldom as if there were some elephant in the room.
There was something up and I could tell, but I wasn't about to bring it up.
"So, Lucas, how's life been?"
"Oh nothing much.. baseball, traveling, and sleep"
I wasn't about to have a dry ass conversation with my obviously pre-occupied boyfriend.
"Look, Luke, I promised my mom I'd be home by 5."
"Okay, no problem."
Ouch, again. I was hoping for some pleading for more time.
I gave him a kiss and he weakly reciprocated.
I walked away with my gift in hand.
Tears started rolling down my rosy cheeks.
Why was Lucas being so distant?
A/N:
Uh OHHH trouble in paradise.....
Thanks again for all the love & support!
