Maya POV
Like I said.December 27, everything changed.
I remember when Riley was in her room crying over the same thing I was.
Four months ago I thought she was absolutely ridiculous for crying over Lucas. She wasn't.
I mean, hell, she dated him for 3 years. I was with him for 3 months.
And I felt like shit.
That just made me feel like worse.
Riley was so strong about her break up.
I checked my phone. I had left it charging ever since I woke up from last night. I checked the time; 9:37. I could feel that I was still tired, I didn't know when I feel asleep from crying.
I just wanted to talk to him, but I couldn't face him. I couldn't look into the eyes of someone who i was in love with know that they weren't in love with me.
Reality was inevitable. It was coming, i'd have to face it.
Just not now."Maya.." my mother softly knocked on the door of my room, "Sweetheart, it's 10 am. You haven't left your room since yesterday, are you okay?"
I cleared my throat so she couldn't hear the tears in my voice, "Yeah, Mom i'm fine."
"Open the door." She shifted to her stern, mom voice, "I know you're not fine." I forget she knows girl language.
Reluctantly, i got up from bed and unlocked the door, and slugged back to bed.
"It's open.."She waddled in my dark room, clutching her bump, and turned on my dim desk light, aware not to expose me to full lighting. "Spill."
"Lucas broke up with me."
"Awh," she clicked her tongue, took a quick sigh, and sat right next to my head, "Why? What happened?"
I sat up and put my head on her shoulders, "He was distant, he probably didn't want the 'burden' that is Maya Hart. No one wants it."
"You know that is absolutely absurd. If he isn't smart enough to realize that you are worth the pain in the ass.." I let out a soft laugh, "Then he isn't worth your time. Besides, he wasn't even that cute."
"Yes, he was." I looked up at her knowing she was just say ridiculous things at this point to cheer me up.
"Okay, yes he was.."
"Ew, mom, gross.."
"In a totally 'cute for my daughter' way, not a 'cute for me' way." She rolled her eyes at the fact that I would think of something that ridiculous.
"I don't know Mom, Shawn IS three years younger.."
She bumped my shoulder, "Hey! Shut it Missy."
We both laughed. She was such a clown, it cheered me up every time.
"Not the point," She shifted to her serious tone once again, "You, Maya, are the most beautiful, talented, and creative girl I know. You also have the biggest, most passionate heart of anyone I've ever met. Lucas Friar does NOT deserve any of it." She smiled at me, gave me a big kiss on my head, and picked up the laundry basket on the floor.
Just as she was waddling out the room I called after her, "Mom?"
She turned around at the door. "Yeah?"
"Thank You."
She shot me a wink and proceeded out of the door.
