Lucas POV
I struggled to stay awake the next morning.
I couldn't sleep at all last night because of my insomnia.
Well, half was my insomnia... the other half was Maya.
We weren't boyfriend and girlfriend but at least she knows now how I feel about her.
I couldn't lie to myself anymore.
But now she's hit me like a train.
I notice all the little things now.
The problem is I can't, for my life, keep a secret.
Maya had to kick my shin under the lunch table twice.
But it's not my fault.. she was the one who wanted to sit next to me, therefore, everyone was questioning us.
For what?
It's not like we haven't ever sat next to each other.
It must have been when I was, er, staring at her.
It was the last period of the day, and the lovely, immobile Mr.Resdy was rambling on about his life.
I was texting Zay under my desk, not that it would have mattered if it was on my desk but I didn't want to risk it, I got a snapchat from Maya.
She sent me a picture of her outside of the janitors closet with the caption, "im waitinggg 😉".
I cracked a smile and interrupted Mr. Resdy, "Can I use the restroom?"
He nodded and waved his hand.
I grabbed my backpack, quietly to not get caught with it, since I probably won't be coming back.
Damn, is Maya influencing me?
I walked down to the 200 building and found Maya with her back to the door playing a game on her phone.
"Lucas," She beamed, she was so cute. "I waited all day for you."
"Oh, yeah right, what about me. I'm a hormonal teenage boy."
"A hot one at that."
And with that, we sneaked into the closet and stayed in there until 15 minutes before the dismissal bell rung.
"Do you want to get something to eat after school?" She asked when we left the closet.
"Wait for me after class?" I pleaded.
"Aw, Lucas the Good is going back to class?"
"Oh no, please don't let this make a comeback."
"Fine, I'll wait." She pouted as we walked hand in hand, hoping no one would leave the class and see us.
"Hey," I called before turning the door handle, "Don't get into too much trouble."
"No promises." She winked at me and sat down in a hallway bench.
When I walked in, Farkle was up at the pencil sharpener near the door. Mr.Resdy was still telling a story and half the class was asleep.
"Hello, Lucas." He whispered suddenly.
"Shit" I whispered and clutched my heart.
"What were you doing in the bathroom for so long?" He questioned.
"I, uh... had a big lunch. And I really quick digestive system." I fumbled out my words.
"Oh, makes sense." He didn't sound completely convinced.
"What are you doing sharpening your pencil if we aren't doing any work?"
"Extra credit." He walked back to his desk.
