Lucy's Pov
I wake up just in time before my dad leaves. I rush out of my room and see him sitting at the table with my mom eating their breakfast; my sister and brother are still asleep.
My mom sees me as soon as I enter the kitchen, "Lucille, what are you doing up so early?"
"I need to ask dad something." I hang my head, fumbling around with my fingers. Dad seems to be in a good mood and if my request puts him in a bad mood, it'll be my fault. Maybe I shouldn't ask after all. I could always tell the girls that I wasn't allowed to go, it'll save me the trouble of facing my dad.
It's to late to chicken out now, "What do you need?" Dad roughly asks, stuffing his breakfast into his mouth.
"I got invited to a friend's sweet sixteen, I asked mom yesterday if I could go and she said it was fine but I need to ask you." It may have came put a little to rushed but mostly everything I say does. "May I go to my friends party?"
"When is it?" Dad asks. "Where is it being held?" The two main questions dad always asks, luckily, I prepared for these questions.
"This Saturday." I dare to take a step forward, "8906 John Ave. It's at Daisy's house."
I never understood why dad demands to know the precise location of wherever his kids go but I figure he has his reasons. "Be home by 11:00." Dad firmly says. Wow, he said yes.
"Thank you." I smile, my fear evaporating into the morning air of the house.
"Do you want breakfast?" My mom offers, I knew her question was really a demand so I nodded silently.
"I'll make you some hot cakes," Mom stood up from her chair. "In the meantime, go get dressed for school." I don't think twice, I hurry to my bedroom to change.

"Omg! Your going!?" Brenda squeals at the same time that Daisy declares, "We are going to have so much fun!"
"You shouldn't have to go, Lucille. We all know you'll feel uncomfortable." Jules sneers. Brenda slams her hand on the table, "Shove it up your ass, Jules." Brenda was the only one who had the courage to tell Jules off. "What if she does want to go? Ever think of that?"
"Well then it'll be a miracle." She snapped, glaring at Jules as if they were rivals who were about to get into a fight. "I'll just go, the air became to stuffy in this area."
Once Jules had walked away, Daisy gossiped. "She's been a pain in the buttons ever since she began dating Alfredo."
Alfredo is the the schools number one player; tall, blue eyed, light brown hair, perfect body structure, etc. Every girl either hates him or loves him while every guy wants to be him or beat him.
"Lucy." Brenda snaps me put of my thoughts with her fingers. I focus on her as she continues, "Do you know that guy? He hasn't took his eyes off you."
I turn to see which guy she is talking about, "I don't know him." Daisy suggests with a huge smile on her face, "We should go meet him!"
The loud school bell rang indicated the start of fifth period. "Well," I smile, relief washing through me as I pick my things up, "Looks like I got saved by the bell. I'll see you guys later."
The questions remained in my head throughout the day: Who was he? What did he want? Why was he looking at me?
Was he even looking at me?
