Lucy's Pov

"You look stunning, Lucy!" Brenda shrieks the second she lays her eyes on me. I smile sheepishly and mumble a thank you toward her at the same time that Daisy asks for photos. "We got to take a picture of you! You rarely wear a dress and wow, you look fantastic!" Daisy quickly pulls out her cell phone and drags me to a seat on her couch, she isn't satisfied with my current position so she makes me pose for her.

I, on the other hand, don't want any pictures. It draws to much attention to me. "Daisy, this isn't a -" I get cut off by her. "Hush now, don't you dare refuse. We need to have this picture as a reminder of the day we first saw you in a dress!"

I released an awkward chuckle and obey the birthday girl's demand. As if I ever get my way. "Got it! You came out beautiful! I'll send it to you later." I nod shyly and she begins to walk away, leading us to a table before she abruptly stops. "Before I forget; The bell didn't save you the other day."

I give her a confused look, expecting her to explain what she meant. "What do you mean?" I blurt when I realize she won't be telling me anything anytime soon.

"Oh, you'll see." Daisy smirks, bouncing around toward the crowd of people. "Let's dance!"

♡♡♡♡

After about what seems like an eternity of dancing, Daisy disappears skrieking joyfully. At first, I think she's had way to much to drink but shortly realize that she's going to do something I probably won't like. "Lucy, it's time!" Daisy drags me by my hand before I could protest. "Close your eyes, someone is going to.. meet you." She demands as we continue to speed passed the tables of other guests.

We could bump into something or someone if she doesn't let me see. Of course she has her eyes open but why can't I?

"You'll thank me later." Was all she said before we came to a stop. I highly doubt I'd thank her later. I open my eyes and wait a few seconds for my vision to adjust to the lights again.

Once it clears, I see the guy who Daisy wanted me to go to the other day. The one who was looking at me. If he was even looking at me; for all I know, he could have been staring at a spec of dust particles flowing around.

I face Daisy who is now smiling as she bounces away from us. "Hello, Lucille." He decides to be the first to speak after seconds of awkward silence. How does he know my name?

"How do you know my name?" I frown.

"Daisy told me." He smirked. Of course it was her. "Well, you know my name. May I know yours?" I mumble.

The guy nods, smirking. "On one condition."

Why do boys always have to declare some type of condition in exchange for something as simple as a name? "And what may that be?"

"To spend the rest of the night with you. You know, get to know each other and what not."

I want to get to know him as well but his condition seems weird. Nonetheless, I accept. "Deal."

He smirks, the guy sure likes to smirk a lot. Ever heard of a genuine smile? "Jake."

I must have stayed silent for quite some time because he began to chuckle softly. "Nice to meet you." I blurt automatically, maybe that's what he was waiting on?

"It's a pleasure to meet you." He chuckles some more. Two minutes of meeting Jake and I already know two things he loves to do: smirk and chuckle like a doofus. A cute doofus. "We should take a seat; we agreed on getting to know each other. Remember?"

"I remember. Let's take a seat, Jake." It was only a few seconds ago, duh. I let him escort me back to my table and let him talk first.
