Lucy's Pov
I didn't think I'd ever be good for something. I was mostly right besides the fact that the only thing people seem to want me for is for homework or answers to an assignment.
Do I give them answers? If they ask politely and aren't total snobs. If they're jocks of any sort or straight up rude, fuck no. I help out the ones who actually look like they need help.
Unlike Daisy.
She dialed my number as if she thought I'd pick up when I saw her name pop up. I instantly slid my finger on the reject call button. She continued to call me as if her life depended on it; eventually, I gave in and answered. "Could you help me with something?" She seemed desperate. "I know you don't want to talk to me, that's the last thing you'd want."
I focused on her words and realized she sounded like she's been crying. "What is it?" I couldn't find it in myself to be rude to her. She could have been crying, I didn't want to be the reason for more tears to pour out.
"I think you were right about Jake." She sniffed, "I think he's cheating." This is what she needed my help with? How would I ever be able to help her if I couldn't even help myself? Jake betrayed me with my own best friend and she was in on it.
There is no way I could help her. I wouldn't want to anyway. "How do you like being in my shoes?" I sneer, something I didn't think I'd ever do to her.
"What do you mean?" Another sniffle was heard. I tried to hold in my sympathy, I didn't want to seem weak. If I did, what could guarantee me that she wouldn't betray me again?
"Jake cheated on me with you, it hurt me." I continued, my voice firm. "Now, it's happening to you. Not so funny anymore, huh?"
Daisy was baffled, "Lucy, I didn't want to hurt you! You didn't give him what I offered!" My jaw dropped. I know about their intimate ways but I didn't care to hear about them.
The entire school had enough if Jake moaning in the school parking lot! "I can't help you," I hissed, "and even if I could, I wouldn't."
"Lucy, come on! I -"
I hung up before she could mutter another venomous word. She called again, I rejected that call and all the others that came after it.
