Lucy's Pov

"I know it's lame to do this via message but in my defense, I tried to ask you in person earlier. Since I met you I developed an attraction to you; I instantly liked your personality and as we got to know each other more I found myself falling for you. Would you be my girlfriend?"

This is the message I woke up to this morning; I didn't reply right away. I pulled it off until I got to school, I need to know if he's serious.

He showed up, as usual, to our lunch table. He seemed nervous but he hid it from everyone rather well. The girls, mainly Daisy and Brenda, squealed their hearts out when I told them Jake had asked me out. To my luck, they controled themselves around him. Minutes later, I led him to a different part of the school; the p.e. area.

"Jake." I breathed, starting off the conversation. Jake, however, stopped me. "Lucy, I like you, a lot. I may not be what you hoped for but I just want one chance with you."

I smile wholeheartedly, at least now I know he's serious. "You have it, Jake." He continued to blab on about how he thinks I'm beautiful and what not before he shut up and realized I accepted.

Without thinking, he wrapped his arms around me and pecked my forehead. "We're officially dating!" Students who were around us turned to see what was going on; they all seemed to make a disgusted face at the sight of Jake hugging me.

It'll take some time for everyone to get used to the idea of Jake and I. A long time, probably.

Weeks later on a beautiful Saturday morning, my mom and siblings shouted happy birthday once I stepped out of my bedroom. Dad, like always, didn't bother to wish me a good day.

I brush it off as best as I could, I'm eighteen now. This should be a good day for me, or so I hope. After breakfast, the doorbell rang and mom allowed Jake to enter. Dad had gone to work so he couldn't say much about seeing a guy here for me.

"Happy birthday, princess." Jake hands me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, stretching his arms out for a hug. "I'm glad you're already dressed, let's get going."

I faced mom who was already pushing me out the door. "Where are we going?"

I climb into his car and he smirks when he grabs the wheel. "It's a surprise, babe."
