Lucy's Pov

Brenda and her date basically abandoned me, I shouldn't blame them though. They were on a date, afterall. I just don't like being alone, it feels sad.

Her date had asked her to dance after we finished eating so she obliged. She gave me a sympathetic look here and there but I told her it was perfectly fine. I wasn't going to be the one to ruin it for her.

"Want to dance, princess?" A voice sneaks behind me and my hair whips his face when I turn. I smile evilly when I see who my hair had slapped, "No, Jake. Go dance with Daisy."

"Why are you alone?" He chuckles, ignoring my comment. I knew he'd catch on eventually.

"I'm not alone." I had no choice but to lie to him. I don't want to look desperate much less a liar.

"Well, you look alone." He takes brenda's seat and places his hand on mine which I slap away. "I'm not."

"Where's your date then?" He smirks, "didn't you say you had one? I want to see the competition."

"I don't need to tell you anything, Jake." I hiss and he chuckles some more. I'm annoyed now.

"I get it," He nods. "He's your rebound isn't he? Surely he can't be an upgrade." How did I not notice his cocky attitude before? Jake is a conceited, cheating bastard. I was about to speak when another voice interrupts.

"Sorry I'm late, darling." Gregg, the guy from the mall, spoke. What was he doing here? I don't care right now, he helped me prove to Jake that I do have a date.

My face brightens up as be places himself on the chair between me and Jake.

"Gregg, you know her?" Jake frowns, eyeing him. They know each other? How? I couldn't help but smirk as I turn to Jake. Gregg is definitely an upgrade if anything.

"Of course, man." Gregg smiles brightly, showing his perfect white teeth. "This beautiful woman is my date."
