Lucy's Pov
It's been about two months that Jake and I have been dating; we haven't been able to do much considering my dad is strict. In case your wondering, dad met Jake when he drove me back home after my birthday celebration two months ago. Let's just say, he wasn't fond of Jake.
Jake had asked my parents, both of them, if it'd be okay that he take me out to dinner and a movie tonight. Mom agreed and after a few minutes of convincing dad, he grumpily agreed.
I got dressed in time and I'm now waiting for him out front of my house. He should be here any minute now; the movie starts at 7:00 p.m. and he said he'd pick me up at 6:30.
Traffic could be a bitch sometimes; maybe that's what is stalling Jake. I could call him or message him but I don't want him to think I'm clingy.
Mom sighs when she sees me sitting outside, still. "Honey, maybe he changed plans. Come back inside, it's warmer."
I hesitate, "Jake would have told me, mom. He's probably stuck in traffic." Mom must be thinking all sorts of things right now but in the two months that I've known Jake, I know he wouldn't stand me up.
"Honey, not all guys are gentlemen." Mom has a point but I refuse to think that about Jake, he wouldn't just stand me up without a reason. I check the time again, 6:58. The movie is probably already showing, I take a deep breath and bite my lip to prevent tears.
"We could wait a little more, if you want." Mom is now trying to cheer me up but I see right through her. I shake my head, "I'm going to bed, goodnight."
"Sleep well," Mom gives me a sad smile. I lock the door to my bedroom; I can't believe Jake stood me up.
