Lucy's Pov

Christmas Eve

My aunt, her husband and her two boys are coming to spend the holidays with us. My Aunt Sherry is my mom's younger sister, she remarried to a guy named Tom but she has two children from her first husband.

After I helped my mom set up the guest room, I lay across the soft, bed.

I was just about to fall asleep, I would have too if my phone didn't wake me up. I glanced at the caller ID after yanking it out of my pocket. Jules.

She never calls me, unless she needs answers to some assignment but we don't have any homework during winter vacation. Nonetheless, I slide my thumb across the accept call button.

"Hey, Jules." I say, cheerfully, "What's up?"

"Lucille, please don't hang up." She pleads, her voice sounds frantic and it makes me worry about her. What if she's in trouble?

"Okay," I reassure her, sitting up on the bed. "I wont. Are you okay?"

"No, I'm such a bad friend to you!" She whined, her voice getting more frantic by the second. "I should have told you this a long time ago!" A small pause followed by a sniffle. "But I couldn't because I didn't understand just how it happened."

"What is it?" I ask. What would she need to tell me that has her all worked up?

"I know I gave you such a hard time after Jake cheated on you with Daisy, I've always given you a bad time and I'm sorry." She apologizes, sniffles still audible through the phone. "Fuck, I should have told you as soon as I saw them!"

"Saw who?" At this point everything is muffled out except Jules voice, my heart beating faster by the second.

"Jake and Daisy." Her tone sounded harsh now almost as if she was angry at them. I don't say anything I let her continue, "One day after school, I stayed back to hang out with Alfredo but when I was on my way out of campus I saw Jake and Daisy sitting under a tree."

She pauses hesitantly. "They looked like they were flirting; I knew Jake was still with you at the time - this was before we found out he cheated on you." She returned to her sniffles, "I saw them making out and I didn't do anything about it. I didn't even have the courage to tell you! I could have warned you."

"Jules," I sigh. "Don't torture yourself for this. It's okay, really." It would have been nice to know ahead of time but whatever. Gregg makes me feel butterflies when I'm with him and that's all that matters.

"Your not mad?" She sounds shocked, sniffles coming to a stop. Why would she need to be crying anyway?

"Why should I be?" I laugh nervously. "I have an amazing boyfriend who makes me feel loved, that's what matters to me right now."

"I thought you would be pissed at me for not telling you before." She claims with a much calm tone. I dont say anything anymore instead I let Jules continue to talk for me. "Listen, I have to get back to the family. Merry Christmas, Lucy."

"Merry Christmas, Jules."
