Axel

When I woke up, Forrest was doing better in both mind and body. Yeah, he might probably snap if he saw John so I never left his side to remind him I'm not leaving him. I didn't want to anyway.

"Uhh...hey,", we were snacking on the sandwich that the glorious chef master Forrest made, I look up since my mouth was full with the sandwich, "Do you...want to go somewhere? You can even pick where we go! Not that I'm being lazy or-well I just want to get to know you more and...", he went on as I watched him with amazement, still chewing.

Date? A date????

With no response from me as he kept going I knew this was getting painful and I kinda know what he means anyway.

"Like a date?"

He stops talking, staring at me, and let's out an exhausted but relieved sigh, "Yeah, exactly!"

*•*•*

Date....we are on a date!!

Forrest brought me to this restaurant, Bel-dybcghjljss I don't even know. The word was too fancy for my unworthy tongue. I was munching on the buttered bread on the table as we waited for our steaks. Forrest was a nervous wreck. I place my hand on the table to get him to do the same and I held his hand. He lets out a held breath.

"Your steaks sirs~!!", the jolly, pink waitress said. As she placed our plates down I couldn't help but smell her sweet, sugary perfume...gawd who knew smelling could give you cavities!! My hand was squeezed. As she left I saw Forrest nervously watching me.

"Why were you smelling her?"

There was tension and I wanted to get rid of it.

"Haha whatever she was wearing it was so sugary strong she's like that Cupid on Valentine's!!"

He still didn't look assured, "...I guess...but why were you smelling her in the first place?"

"Hey, you have a better nose than me. You're saying you didn't smell her?"

I regretted saying that after seeing his shocked yet innocent expression.

"...n-no..."

Great. WONDERFUL! Ya made him stutter! He was already a nervous wreck so LETS JUST ADD ON TO THAT!!!

I feel so guilty, this is our first date and here I am starting a fight.

"Sorry.", I wanted to say more but I felt like I was just giving excuses.

"Me too."

We ate our rare steaks and I was practically drooling as I ate it. Forrest happily watched me as he ate his. That steak Forrest got looks so good. I cut off a piece of my steak and offered it to him. The way he took it with his mouth, though, just left me breathless. It was in such a complete loving and appreciated way, I don't even flippin know....

I was brought out of my daze when he held out a much bigger piece than what I had offered him. I knew I blushed mad when I took the steak with my mouth. Indirect kiss...

"Mmm...yum..."

Forrest still stared at me and when I gave him a questioning look he coughed and went back to his dinner. The way we acted, you'd think we were 2 virgins on a date! Wait...no! High schoolers!! Yesss that's better.

Forrest

I couldn't even taste the steak, I just mindlessly ate it as I focused on Axel. He's so perfect. Yeah, I did get a little jealous of the waitress, but I'm glad we didn't continue off of it. When he offered me a piece of his steak, my heart was swelling. Even after all I've done, even after I traumatized his friend, he still offered me a piece. And seeing him take my piece, something just stirred in me but I shook it off. I wanted to enjoy this moment.

I looked at Axel and saw him daydreaming again. I lost count at how many times I caught him doing that during our training sessions. I don't even think he realizes how often he does this...

"Soo do you like...to do anything?"

I mentally face palmed. I'm talking as if we just met. Axel let out a chuckle before replying, "I like Waffles, to run, listen to music, sleeeeep, umm hanging out with you...?", he murmured the last part but I heard it clear as day. I couldn't help but smile and feel all giddy.

"What kind of music?", I ask.

"Well I switch here and there, right now I'm mostly listening to Set It Off. They're soooo awesoooome! They're in the...punk genre, I think. You?"

"I listen to classical, mostly Beethoven."

"Oh I've listened to his songs before! Umm, I think...I don't know, I just kind of shuffle on Spotify."

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Spotify? On what device?"

"...yours..."

There was an awkward silence and he was too embarrassed to look at me. I slightly laughed making my shoulders shake, then it grew to the point I was laughing out loud in a quiet manner.

"Geez I'm right here ya know."

"Sorry sorry,", I calmed down, "I was just so confused and to think you used my phone without me ever noticing! Were you being sneaky? That's huge points for training.", I smiled to ease him and he grinned with a blush.

We talked more and more and were so engrossed with each other that the waitresses and waiters didn't dare interrupt us. It was not until 2 full hours of talking that the "Cupid" lady, as Axel calls her, interrupted us asking if we wanted any desserts, sneakily suggesting the "Lover's Special". By the way Axel's eyes lit up at the name of it, I couldn't refuse. The "Lover's Special" was a mountain of small scoops of various ice cream flavors, sprinkled with rainbows of those little heart topping, and 2 fancy spoons with hearts on them. Axel 'ooh'-ed here and there at each ice cream flavors. He's so adorable.

We soon left and Axel asked if we could sleep at his house this time since we were supposed to anyway last night but couldn't (previous chapter). We took turns with where we slept, a reason why we had some of each other's stuff.

We walked there, and like usual, I ended up carrying Axel when he got too tired. The Beta would've surely lectured me on encouraging laziness or dependence on me, but I don't care. The little bell behind the door chimed when we entered the shop, waking some of the dogs and the owner who sat on his rocking chair, ready to pass out. Axel felt bad and convinced him to go rest as we wait for the owners. I didn't mind, we talked the whole time.

Once the last dog went, we showered (separately for Axel was far too embarrassed) and went to bed where we just talked some more.

"We never talked this much, so tired but so glad.", Axel yawned.

I agreed. Though we stopped talking, there was a comfortable silence/noise with the loud purrs of Waffles. She found above our heads, a favored spot. Her purring lulled my Axel to sleep. Not a moment after, I too fell asleep, my arms over Axel's as his breath warmed my chest.
