I wake up to an unfamiliar absence. Without Tobias's arms around me in the morning, everything feels strange. I'd spent the night at Chris and Will's apartment and was planning on going to the training room with Christina after breakfast as well. The night before last was also spent away from Tobias. I haven't seen him in two days.

I can't help but feel cold as I wake up alone on the couch. Every piece of me aches for Tobias to wrap his strong arms around me, to feel the warmth of his body against his. I never realized how much I loved that until now. But for the moment, I have to be content. Tomorrow, the initiates are coming and I couldn't be more nervous or excited.

"Tris, you up yet?" Christina calls from her bedroom.

"Yeah," I call back sleepily.

"We're leaving in ten minutes. Get ready!"

I groan and roll out of bed, the cold air hitting my bare legs. Will sits at the counter and laughs at the sight. "Someone's happy!"

"Save it, Will," I snap.

"Oh, do I need to tell Tobias how nasty you are when you wake up?" he teases.

I roll my eyes and grab my spare change of clothes and walk into the bathroom. My breath is minty fresh and my new change of clothes are on just in time for us to leave. My hair decided to be extra cooperative this morning; I didn't even have to run a comb through it.

The training room was pretty empty all throughout the day, but I knew that starting tomorrow it would be full of the new initiates. My initiates.

"Do you think Four's going to throw knives at you again?" Christina teases, nudging me as we run laps around the room.

I laugh. "No, he knows I have ways of punishing him now. Plus, I could kill him in his sleep."

"No need to get violent now," Will interjects.

"So what's the deal with Eric? Is he, like, your boss now?" Christina asks suspiciously.

"Hardly," I huff. "Max demoted him to something to do with crime. And the way he's been performing recently, some people are guessing that we'll be in need of a new leader soon."

"If you think about it,Greg will probably take the jump soon, so we'll be out two leaders. They may be looking for replacements in the new initiate group," Will says.

"Yeah that's what T-" I catch myself quickly, "Four is saying. He's also worried that Max will approach him again."

Christina's stomach growls loudly and Will laughs at her. "I think we should get some food."

Chris is quick to nod.

Today, they are serving the regular; burgers. I grab the meat and buns, plopping it onto the plate. I'm involved in a conversation with Christina and Will. He's talking about his childhood, but my mind drifts to my boyfriend.

In my mind, I see his dark blue eyes and they stare into my eyes, almost like he's able to read what's going on inside my head. I lift my hand to my lips subconsciously as I remember the first time he kissed me.

We were in the chasm and his lips tentatively brushed mine before he realized that we both wanted the other. His lips pressed more firmly the second time and all the uneasiness in my stomach was replaced with a warmth that I've become all too familiar with these past months.
