His lack of proper pet supplies meant that he had to let the stray dog sleep in his scarf and the little fuzzball didn't seem to mind that at all. The unnamed animal didn't sleep as soon as he entered the apartment, but instead sniffed around and familiarized himself with the place as Jongin prepared to call it a day. But at the very moment the heater began to spread warmth around the tiny apartment, he found his way over to it and curled up into a tight, little ball in a spot near it. Jongin found it cute how this dog that he had spontaneously encountered only minutes ago was already acting as if he had lived with him forever.
Still, he wondered why he even picked up the dog in the first place. What was he was going to do with it? He definitely didn't plan on keeping it as a pet because he certainly couldn't afford that. But the more he sat on the idea and stared at it, the more he realized that it would make more than enough sense to.
Obviously, his previous owners didn't care about him anymore if they just left out in the streets to fend for himself. It would certainly offer a temporary cure to Jongin's loneliness. A companion to come home to, whether it be a human or a dog, was something he craved, he just didn't expect his wish to come true so abruptly.
He decided to just wait it out. If someone better suited to take care of a dog came along and wanted it, he would give it up and that would be that.
When the dog opened his eyes not long after Jongin had fallen asleep on the couch, he turned his head and looked around until he saw him. He looked warm, like he might be nice to cuddle with. But the dog didn't know how the man felt about cuddling with him just yet, so he stayed put.
The warm scent of his scarf combined with the warmth coming from the heater was just enough for him to get by that night before anyway--at least until that time came around. At that thought, the dog's tiny head began to dart around in search of a clock.
9:57 a.m.
It was almost time. He only had three minutes to find a place in the strange apartment to hide so that the man wouldn't see him. Lifting himself off the scarf, he glanced at him as he slowly walked out of the living room, trying his best not to disturb his peaceful slumber with the pitter-patter of his paws.
He looked both directions once he got to the edge of the living room, pondering which way was the best way: left or right? He flinched when his ears picked up shifting from the couch and he spun his head around to see the man stretching out his body before springing back into a limp position. He sighed in relief and looked at the clock again.
9:58 a.m.
He had to find a place and fast. Going with what his gut told him, the dog turned left and soon discovered that he was walking right down the path that would lead him to a different room. Once he was in the room, he mustered up all his strength and pushed the door closed as much as he could, leaving a thin crack in between the door and its frame. There was also a clock in there and he looked at it when he turned around.
9:59 a.m.
One more minute. The clock didn't count the seconds, so he didn't know how long he had exactly, but regardless he was glad he was able to get to a spot where he couldn't be seen before it struck--
10:00 a.m.
Before he could finish that thought, the dog found himself surrounded by a rapidly twirling and glimmering tornado that within a few seconds of appearing made him return back into his other half--a human. The boy groaned as he rose to his knees and then his feet after that, looking around to check that no belongings of the man with no name had been damaged during his transformation.
He was quick to realize that he was now completely naked and rolled his eyes in annoyance; he hated that part of it. Looking around at either side of the room, he strolled over to the closet and opened its two doors in search for something to cover him up. There wasn't much in there to choose from, he noticed, so he settled with a random printed tee and a pair of grey sweatpants, both garments turning out to be a little too big for his small frame. He then went over and sat on the bed, sighing as he looked around with a faint pout on his lips.
Maybe this time, he wouldn't be thrown out on the streets. Maybe this would be the last time he would have to do this. Maybe this time, his curse would finally be lifted.
*******
It was a little more than half an hour later when Jongin arose from his slumber, feeling the aftermath of sleeping on the couch shot through his back as he sat up. When he looked down at the spot where he last remembered seeing the dog, he became quickly perplexed when he didn't seem it there anymore. Eyebrows in a deep crease, he stood up and started looking around for him, not sure what to call in order to get its attention since he didn't even know if the thing had a name.
"Dog...?" Jongin called out slowly and awkwardly, testing out the name on his tongue. "Dog, where did you go?" He checked the kitchen, thinking maybe he would be sniffing for crumbs, but it wasn't. He didn't find it in the bathroom either, which made him hope it hadn't decided to go to the bathroom any place else.
"Where the hell is that thing?" Jongin asked himself, scratching his head a little. His head cocked to the side when he saw that the door to his bedroom was closed, which was weird considering that when he went to sleep, it was wide open. His eyebrows arched and he figured that the dog must be pretty damn smart if it could figure out how to close a door.
But when he walked back and pushed the door open, Jongin saw something that he was not prepared to see.
"What the hell?!"

THE CLIFFHANGER. THE DREADED CLIFFHANGER. I don't know why I put that in all caps. Anyway, I was going to put the part where Kyungsoo explains himself in here, but I thought it would be better in its own chapter! :)
Thanks for reading and please show this story some love! Until tomorrow, bye! <3
