Kyungsoo's sudden lack of talking over the next week worried Jongin.
He wasn't acting as clingy as he usually did with him, hardly asked him questions, and would sleep with his back facing him when night fell. But those weren't even the most troubling telltale signs that something was wrong. In the morning when he first rose from bed, instead of going to Jongin for his hug, he would just sit on the futon and watch television silently.
Had he said or done something to Kyungsoo that hurt his feelings? Jongin couldn't recall doing anything like that lately. He just didn't know what was going on inside his head.
It was another one of those mornings as Jongin prepared breakfast and the television was playing quietly in the background. He would glance over at Kyungsoo every now and again, only to catch him right as he was turning his head away. Clearly, there was something he needed to get off his chest but was too afraid to. Jongin hoped he didn't come off as the type of person he couldn't talk to.
"Soo," he called out, "breakfast is ready if you're hungry." Kyungsoo turned his head around when he heard Jongin's voice enter his ears, letting his legs slowly detach from his chest as he stood and began the short journey over to the table. He sat down in the chair across from Jongin after pulling it out. Jongin set Kyungsoo's plate, which was made up of a few strips of bacon alone, and then went to sit in his seat, barely earning a glance from the younger male. For the next ten minutes, they ate in silence, always just missing each other's gazes.
Kyungsoo hoped that Jongin wasn't angry or annoyed with him for being so quiet the past few days. It was just so difficult for him to properly look at or be near him after the little talk they had about kissing.
"You usually kiss someone when you like them a lot."
The words played over in his mind like a broken record and the more times they repeated themselves, the more flustered Kyungsoo became. Should he ask Jongin for permission to kiss him or not? Did normal people even ask to kiss people? Kyungsoo wasn't brave enough to just do it and he knew that. But he really liked Jongin, though, and how else would he know that he really liked him if he didn't kiss him?
"I only have to cover the start of someone's shift today, so I think it'd be better if I just left you here instead of taking you with me. I'll only be gone for an hour or so, maybe less," Jongin explained as he finished up eating what was left on his plate. "Do you think you'll be okay if I leave?"
Kyungsoo blinked his eyes at him. Of course, he didn't want Jongin to leave him behind for an hour; who would ever want that? But at the same time, Kyungsoo knew he had to stay firm. He was still having confused feelings for Jongin and following him around certainly wasn't going to clear anything up.
"Yes," Kyungsoo answered plainly and softly. "I will be fine."
Jongin sighed, disappointed but nodding anyway. "Okay," he said, standing up from his chair and pushing it back. He pushed it back in and brought his dirty dishes over to the sink, washing his hands briefly before collecting all the things he would need to go to work. "I'll be back in an hour," he said without looking at Kyungsoo, adjusting his coat and scarf and stepping out of the apartment, closing the door behind.
When he heard Jongin lock the door from the outside, Kyungsoo sank down in his seat in melancholy. He didn't want Jongin to leave him behind. Even if he was feeling confused around him, he didn't want to ever be away from Jongin, ever. But now that he was, he was starting to think that the man he cared so deeply might just be upset with him. And he didn't want that either.

Jongin decided to stay at the gym and work off all the tension that had built up inside of him. Admittedly, the more he tried to figure out what was going with Kyungsoo, the more frustrated he became at himself. He was part dog, for crying out loud. Dogs didn't need a lot. He should have been able to figure it out. In any event, he thought it would be good for him to blow off a little steam before returning home later that afternoon.
