Christmas was just around the corner and for Jongin, that meant it was time to start brainstorming gift ideas.

The family members he still talked to were somewhat easy to buy for, but Kyungsoo's gift had him lost. He never mentioned any presents he really wanted, but there were hints he left behind. He could get him more coloring books or new crayons, but even those were mediocre. Jongin wanted the gift to be special and meaningful, just like he was to Jongin.

Flipping through the last page of yet another catalog, Jongin sighed in frustration and shut it. "Shit," he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb.

"What's wrong now?" Chanyeol mused as he strolled into the kitchen for a drink and most likely something to eat to go along with it.

"Christmas, that's what's wrong," Jongin replied, pushing the magazine away from him. "I have no idea what to get Kyungsoo. I've gotten yours and everyone else that I need to buy for, everyone except him."

"Did you try asking him what he wanted?" Chanyeol said, leaning on the counter space next to Jongin with a fresh and chilled water bottle in his hand. "I'm not a genius, but I think that might help."

"Yes, but he doesn't give me a clear answer," Jongin said. "He just keep listing random things that he likes that are like impossible to buy with the amount of money I have. Either that or he just says something warm and I don't know what the hell that is supposed to mean."

"Well, then," Chanyeol said, swallowing his drink and then sighing lightly, "let's think. What are some things that are warm? Fire, candles, heaters..."

"Try to list things that won't cause a fire please," Jongin said, interrupting him.

Chanyeol rolled his eyes. "Fine, what about..." Chanyeol said, trying to think of ideas that would fit within his criteria, "...clothes, blankets, socks, scarves--"

"That's it!" Jongin said, springing up from his seat as a grin began to take over his lips. "A scarf, I'll get him a scarf. Thanks for the help, Yeol." Jongin patted the elder's head briefly, and rather roughly, before pushing his chair in a walking back to his bedroom, leaving Chanyeol in the kitchen and feeling slightly dumbfounded.

"A scarf?" he mumbled to himself, eyebrows knitted. "Who the hell would want a scarf for Christmas?"

The luminescent moon was slowly rising into the darkening sky as Jongin and Kyungsoo settled into bed. Truthfully, Kyungsoo wasn't the least bit tired because his mind was too busy thinking of what the perfect Christmas present for Jongin would be. He knew he liked the sport called soccer a lot and that he loved to watch scary movies that Kyungsoo personally hated, but he didn't have any money to buy him things related to those; Kyungsoo had no money at all. That left him with only one option: make him something.

But that brought up another problem, Kyungsoo didn't know what to make or how to make it. Sure, he could make him another picture, but he had a lot of those already and Kyungsoo wanted to get him something different, something he would be guaranteed to like. He just didn't know what that was.

"Jongin?" Kyungsoo asked in a slow and steady voice.

"Hmm?" hummed the elder in response, positioning his body under the thick blanket and allowing his body to sink into the mattress.

"What do you want for Christmas?"

The sudden question stumped Jongin. He didn't know how to answer it since it had been so long since the last time someone asked him what he wanted. As soon as he moved out of the house he grew up in for 18 years, his mom stopped asking him what gifts he wanted to receive for birthdays and holidays and sent him whatever she felt he needed at the time. But now that someone cared enough to ask him again, Jongin was feeling slightly lost as to what to say next.
