During the entire drive over to the gym, Kyungsoo peered out the open car window, an action which definitely showed off his canine side. Jongin couldn't deny that the ecstatic and thrilled look on the younger male's face was cute, but he was having a difficult time believing that the scene in front of his eyes was indeed reality.
Kyungsoo definitely acted like a puppy, but Jongin's left brain was flashing red lights at him, telling him not to believe his eyes. Of course, when he was a young child he would believe in the fairy tales his mother read to him at night, but the inevitable happened and eventually he began to understand the reason they were called fairy tales. And maybe if Kyungsoo had come to him when he was seven years old, he would have no problem trusting his existence. But Jongin wasn't seven years old.
Once his car was in between the painted white lines of his usual parking space, Jongin shifted the car into park and removed the key from the ignition, making the engine shut down after a few rumbles. Kyungsoo moved his head back inside the vehicle and gazed around at his unfamiliar surroundings with wondrous curiosity. He followed Jongin's lead and exited the car, walking right alongside him as he scattered over to the front door.
"Okay, now listen to me," Jongin said, slowing his steps down so that he was now right beside Kyungsoo, "technically, you're not even supposed to be here with me, so try not to stand out too much, alright? Blend in as much as you possibly can."
"But what if I cannot blend in?" Kyungsoo questioned, blinking his eyes ever so innocently.
"I'll get fired and then I'll never talk to you again," Jongin deadpanned, coming to a halt and facing Kyungsoo with a serious expression on his face. He was only being half honest when he said that, but boy did it shut Kyungsoo up quickly. "And don't walk up to people and start talking to them. People don't like it when you do that. If someone says hi to you, say hi back, but that's it. Nothing else. Understand?"
"Yes," Kyungsoo replied with a nod of his head, still speaking formally with Jongin.
"Good," Jongin said, letting out a deep breath and praying that no troubles would arise with him while he was working. The said male then proceeded to make his away around the front desk and walked through the narrow opening pushing the small door back gave him in order to punch in.
Kyungsoo, being the naive puppy that he was, followed Jongin and stood closely behind him, deciding that he would protect him from all the strange and foreign bodies that seemed to be surrounding him. He never liked being around a lot of people, but Jongin, he knew, would protect him. To him, Jongin seemed like that kind of person.
"There you are, Kim!" Luhan stomped his tiny feet over to where Jongin was currently standing, making the younger groan and roll his eyes. "It took you long enough to get here! Don't you have an alarm clock?"
"I do, but it's broken, so I can't exactly use it," responded Jongin with another, under-the-breath groan, bending down to grab his training schedule from the middle shelf under on of the two computers.
"Well, get it fixed, moron!" Luhan shouted, hitting him over the head with that clipboard he always carried around. "If you're late one more time--"
"I'm fired, I know, I know," Jongin said, finishing the sentence he had heard on so many other occasions. "I'm not stupid, I get it."
"You must be stupid if you think I'm going to keep covering for you," he replied, his eyebrows raised. "But then again, you are just an idiot across the board, so I can't really expect much more from you." Jongin only rolled his eyes, the insults being fired at him being completely dodged by his ear.
Kyungsoo, on the contrary, didn't find Luhan's words to be humorous and he certainly didn't plan on letting them pass by nonchalantly. Jongin was a nice man, he thought, and he was ready to fight anyone who caused him any form of harm.
