Chapter 4.2: A Family

||Third Person||

It had happened quite fast.

Quite terribly, surprisingly fast. He wasn't ready for when it would formally occur.

But it was too late. He got through the process of helping and encouraging Lily the whole time, and didn't faint at the sight of his child. He didn't faint at first glance or the leap in his heart or the lack of blood flowing to his head.

God, it had been nerve wracking.

Though, every moment of it was just as perfect and wonderful as he had imagined it to be.

Severus couldn't control his gasp or wide stretching smile, when his eyes fell over his child.

His daughter.

Fantasies came crashing down, and it all became an nonviable reality. He wasn't used to this overwhelming ecstatic feeling, or used to any sorts of jumpiness and constant adrenaline.

A couple days later, the new-but-not-really family had went back to Lily's home. Rest was needed, but not received. The new child was an exciting and completely necessary addition to their lives. Severus was unsure as to why he never intended to lead this type of life, when it was the most beautiful and lavish present anyone could receive.

"Honestly, I don't think you've laid your eyes on anyone but Aurora since -"

Severus tore his eyes off the crib, and looked back at the doorway. Lily stood there, leaning against the doorframe with a nicely formed smile curved upon her face. She had a new glow, like having another child somehow empowered her to be stronger.

Aurora Lily Snape. She was tiny and thin, though had the chubbiest rosy cheeks and the greenest little eyes. And her nose - ha - thank Merlin she had her mother's nose.  Aurora already had some tufts of dark raven hair peeking out, which must've been a feature she inherited from her father. Her father, who couldn't keep his eyes off her. She was so precious and petite, fragile and hardly ever made a sound. It had been three days since her birth, and they had just come home to Lily's house that afternoon. Sirius (or Remus, who knew what those two were up to today); would be coming tomorrow to drop Harry off back home with his family.

"- since she was born." He finished for Lily, returning his gaze back to Aurora. she was sleeping and curled up, with puffs of warm breath exerting from her petite mouth.
