Sweating and puffing, I managed to puff out "you are killing me" to Arobynn. He gave me a lazy grin against the wall he was leaning on. "You're not leaving this room until you master using your daggers with your left hand" he replied smugly. I shot him a glare, all afternoon I had been training along with a more talented assassin named Harding. He wasn't like the others, Harding was talented enough that he was almost able to beat me in a sparring contest once. Almost. Unfortunately, talking to Arobynn had distracted me and in those few precious moments, Harding had swept me from my feet and now held a dagger to my throat. Wonderful. Just wonderful. "One more hour in the training room- and you better use that time to impress me otherwise you can continue for another... 4 hours." Arobynn told me. I glowered at him, and he gave me that insufferable smirk that he knew I hated. But instead of allowing him to control me, I stood up, dusted myself off and started training again.
1 hour later
I sat down and stared at the reflection in the mirror. Who was that girl looking back at me? Bruises covered my face, especially the jaw and I had a lovely scar trailing right down my next. That scar was all thanks to Arobynn the day I met him, I crept up behind him in the streets to ask him if he knew Celaena Sardothien. Apparently I almost gave him a heart attack according to him and that was why he decided to train me. I still can't figure out how I crept up on the king of assassins like that. Snapping back to reality, I pulled out a draw that contained make up and jewellery- lots of it. This whole room once belonged to my sister but now I have all her belongings from when she left. I had no idea that Aelin loved a bit of pampering. But after searching through all her draws, I realised 'a bit' was certainly not the word for it. There were unique dresses everywhere, make up of all variations and so much jewellery that I was starting to consider the worth of all of this put together. After searching through a particular draw, I found myself dressed up in a long red dress with an emerald brooch over my heart. I then swore to myself I would keep this brooch with me for ever.
The next day
I was about to wake up when I heard foot steps right out the front of my door. I froze then quietly reached for the dagger in my pillow. I heard muffled voices out the front of my room. Listening closely I managed to make out some sentences- "when are you going to tell her that Celaena was actually shipped off to Endovier to become a slave?" Asked the first man. "She isn't ready yet" the second man replied and with that they strutted off. I froze, the world spinning around me. The second man- it was clearly Arobynn. Rage and anger slammed into me. How would I find her now. She was gone and Arobynn had lied to me. Lied. I screamed, and I screamed loud. How dare he feed me with lies. I made sure that when I found every last detail about this conversation, I would tear Arobynn to pieces. Someone rushed to my door and knocked frantically. "Something wrong miss?" Asked a servant. "No sorry, just a neck lace that went missing, I found it" lying to him as if it was my language. The servant sighed with relief a hurried back off. For that day I stayed in my apartment. And I had a reason to.
