“Mom, can I sleep with you tonight?” Cassie asked Sarah.
“Of course. Halika dito sa tabi ko.” Cassie jumped on the bed and settled on the side her mom was patting. “Why Baby? Are you sick?”
“No Mommy. I just want to sleep here with you.”
“Oh. Sige tulog ka na.” As she was tucking Cassie in, her phone rang. She picked it up to answer the call.
“Ge? May problema ba?”
“Natutulog ka na ba?”
“Hindi pa naman. Bakit?”
“I forgot to tell you that my parents are throwing a party tomorrow, wedding anniversary kasi nila. You’re invited. Susunduin ko na lang kayo ni Cassie around 11. Lunch kasi ‘yung party eh.”
“Si Jessy and Mike pupunta rin ba?”
“I invited them pero hindi sure si Jessy kasi may lunch din daw sa bahay nila Mike. Pero they will try to follow. So ano, susunduin ko kayo ha?”
“Teka, ‘wag mo na kami sunduin. Magcocommute na lang kami ni Cassie papunta sa inyo.”
“No, susunduin ko kayo. Kawawa naman si Cassie, maiinitan pa sa byahe.”
“Kayong dalawa ha simula nung umuwi tayo galing Jollibee eh parang may secret understanding na kayo. Ano bang pinag-usapan n’yo?”
*** Flashback
“Cass, say thank you to Tito Ge for taking us to Jollibee.”
“Thank you Tito Gerald,” the little girl sweetly said after giving Gerald a hug.
“You’re welcome little princess. I promise this won’t be the last time.”
“Sige Ge, we’ll go inside na,” Sarah said.
“Ah… Mommy is it okay if I talk to Tito Gerald first?”
Gerald and Sarah looked at each other, both confused. “Si – sige baby. Pa’ano Ge, pasok muna ako.”
Cassie sat her mom’s friend in one of the benches in their terrace. “Tito Ge, I saw you when you and Mommy were talking. You look so sad. Bakit po?”
He was caught off guard by the inquiry of the little girl but he didn’t have a choice… but tell a little lie, “Kasi Cass, I have a friend who doesn’t want to be friends with me anymore. Nalulungkot lang ako. Kasi para ko s’yang bestfriend eh.”
