“Good morning. This is Sarah speaking. How may I help you?” she said after pressing the button to activate the speaker phone. She just got to her area the following morning and was fixing her things when her office phone rang.
“Good morning gorgeous. I love you,” he sweetly said on the other line.
This put a huge smile on her face which slowly faded when she saw Jessy’s shocked expression. She was standing by the entrance of her cubicle and was able to catch what Gerald said.
“Nasaan ka na?” she asked while giving her friend a sort of apologetic look.
“In the car, on my way there. Wala ba akong I love you, too Babe or handsome?”
“Babe?” Jessy mouthed to her.
“Ah Ge… kasi…”
“Jessy’s there already?”
“Yeah.”
“And I’m on speaker phone.”
“Yes.”
“Hi Jessy!” he greeted.
“OMG! Ang aga pa para sa mga pasabog na ganito! Baka hindi ako maka-get over dito. Kailan pa? Paano nangyari ito? Magsalita kayong dalawa.”
“Sis kalma lang. Baka may makarinig sa ‘yo at isipin kung anong ginagawa ko sa ‘yo,” Sarah told her friend.
“At ngayon ka pa nahiya na may makakarinig sa ‘yo eh nag-I love you nga itong lalaking ito at akala mo walang nakarinig. Buti na lang bukod sa ‘yo eh ako pa lang ang tao dito sa area n’yo. Hoy Geraldo magsalita ka. Anong ginawa mo dito sa bestfriend ko? Last week lang eh kulang na magmakaawa ka sa akin dahil hindi mo na alam ang gagawin mo d’yan sa feelings mo…”
“Teka, teka… Jessy, walang laglagan. Atin na lang ‘yon,” Gerald interrupted.
“At may secret pa pala kayo. Ano ‘yang usapan na ‘yan at kailan nangyari ‘yan? Bakit hindi ko alam ‘yan?” Sarah said.
Flashback
Wednesday of the previous week…
“Sis, hindi ako makakasabay sa ‘yo umuwi mamaya ha. Five-o-one ako kasi may pinapasuyo si Mike sa akin na daanan ko daw eh. Hindi kasi s’ya pwede dahil nasa field work pa s’ya,” Jessy told Sarah on the phone. (Author’s Note: For those who do not know… Five-o-one or 5:01 means going home really early. As in clocking out from the office at exactly 5:01 pm.)
“Sige sis, okay lang. Kailangan ko rin naman mag-overtime. Ang dami ko nang pending eh. Ingat ka sis ha.”
