“Baby, be good there ha?” Sarah said as she folded her daughter’s clothes for her one week out-of-town trip with her father.
“Opo. Good girl naman po ako ah.”
Cassie’s trip with Mark was scheduled a week after her school year finally ended. So for one whole week, Sarah will be “alone”… something that she has been dreading.
Day 1 – Monday
“I promised Cassie that I’d keep you company while she’s away. That’s why from today until she comes back, I will bring you home and stay with you until it’s bedtime,” he said.
“You don’t have to do that. You are not obligated to do that.”
“You know I try hard not to break my promises, especially if it’s a promise I made to Cassie.”
“Bahala ka sa buhay mo basta sinasabi ko na sa ‘yo that I’m no fun to be with kasi namimiss ko ang baby ko. This is the first that we’ve been away from each other this long.”
“So tara na?” he asked.
“Saan tayo pupunta?”
“May kasabay ka bang magdinner sa inyo?”
“Malamang tapos na silang kumain when I get home so wala.”
“Tara, let’s have dinner before I take you home.”
Sarah didn’t have the energy and will-power to argue with him anymore so she just agreed.
Day 2 – Tuesday
“Sarah, we need to finish this layout today. Pwede ka bang mag-overtime tonight? Kailangan na daw i-send out ‘yan bukas,” Ms. Malou said as she placed a draft of an ad layout on her desk.
“Sige po,” she blankly replied. “Kung kalian alas-singko na tsaka magbibigay ng trabaho. Buti na lang wala si Cassie ngayon,” she said to herself.
“Sis!” Jessy called her.
Sarah looked up from the paper she was holding and saw her friend. “Sis, OT ako. May kailangan tapusin eh.”
“Okay lang sis. Alis na ako ha. Monthsary namin ni Mike. Date muna kami.”
“Yun naman o! May ganun talagang factor,” Sarah teased.
“Oo sis, ganun talaga ‘pag may ka-relasyon. Subukan mo kaya ulit para alam mo. O kaya labas-labas din kayo nitong si Ge ‘pag may time. Papasa naman kayong magjowa eh.”
Gerald stopped what he was doing and joined the conversation, “Sige bukas. OT s’ya today eh. Sasamahan ko na lang muna. Baka bukas may time na.”
“Winner ka d’yan brother! Sige, magdate muna kayo sa trabaho. Gora na ako.”
“Have fun Jessy,” he said.
“Thank you! Kayo rin,” Jessy said and then left.
“Hoy Ge, tigilan n’yo ako ni Jessy ha. Baka may makarinig sa inyo.”
“So what? Alam naman nilang close tayo ah.”
“Baka may time bukas? Talaga lang ha! At talagang date?”
“This is just like the premier night. Night out pero naging date. Di ba nga naging instant boyfriend mo pa ako?”
“Shhhh! ‘Wag ka nga maingay! Baka may makarinig sa ‘yo.”
“Make me! Make me shut girlfriend,” he dared her.
She quickly stood up and went to him to cover his mouth. “Tumigil ka nga sabi eh.”
