“Daddy, why do you love Mommy?” Cassie asked.

“Why? There are a lot of reasons why I love her?”

“So, what nga?”

It was another quiet weekend at the Andersons. Gerald and Cassie are at the entertainment room watching “Cinderella” as requested by the little girl. He was about to answer her question when Sarah entered the room with a tray filled with snacks. They smiled at each other when their eyes met.

Even after more than a year of being married to her there would still be times, just like this very moment, when he would ask himself about how lucky one could get for having a wonderful woman like her for a wife. Sometimes he still couldn’t believe it. But he didn’t have to pinch himself to really believe it. Just a simple touch from her and he comes back to the world where she really and truly belongs to him.

Sarah placed the tray on top of the coffee table and said, “Mirienda muna kayong dalawa.”

Gerald reached out his hand to her to gesture for her to join them on the couch. She understood it and took her hand before settling beside him. “Well, one reason is she takes care of us really well. And then everyday she tells and shows us how much she loves us. How could you not love her for that?”

“What are you talking about?” Sarah asked.

“She asked me why I love you,” he replied.

“Those are the only reasons?” she dramatically asked back.

“Syempre hindi lang ‘yun. Marami akong rason for loving you the way that I do,” he sweetly said.

But the conversation was interrupted when they heard a knock on the door. Cassie offered to be the one to check on who it was.

“Bakit po Manang?” the little girl asked when she saw who was outside the door.

“Cassie, nandyan si Kylie. Makikipaglaro yata sa ‘yo.”

“Okay po Manang.” She then turned to her mom and dad. “My classmate’s here. Is it okay if she stays so we can play?”

“Of course baby,” he answered.
