Harry -
"There's several members of the HalfMoon pack on their way here, according to Dax." Louis informs me as he sets down the phone, looking at me from across the room at his desk.
"What're they coming for? Searching for pack members mates?" I ask, as I dig around the mountains of papers stacked on my desk. Looking for one that is, no doubt, on the bottom of the biggest and baddest pile.
Louis lifts the phone to his ear again and continues talking to Dax.
"He says that they're searching for a lost member of their pack." At those words I stop and take notice.
"What member? Male, female?" And Louis goes back to asking questions over the phone.
"They won't say. They're just looking through the surrounding territories."
I roll my eyes and let out a sigh.
"Tell Dax to let them in the territory but have them all together and escorted here to the packhouse. I want to talk to them." Louis nods and continues his phone conversation, hanging up a minute later.
"Harry?" I hum to let him know I heard him, but I continue searching for the papers.
"What if Lily is who they're looking for?"
I stand up from being bent over flitting through the papers, and let out a sigh.
"If she is, there's nothing they can do about it. She's mine."
"She's not really yours, Harry. You haven't marked her or anything-"
"Louis, first we'll see who these guys are looking for. And I'll take things from there. Alright?" I interrupt my very annoyingly smart Beta.
"Okay. But if it is Lily?" Louis insists, and I let out a growl.
"If they walk in my living room and look at Lily saying that they're going to take her away unless she's marked, I'll bite her right there in front of everyone! You happy now?" Louis smiles widely and heads for the door.
"Very!"
********
Truth be told, I don't want these strange wolves checking Lily out to see if she is their missing pack member. If she is their lost member, I'd rather lie and tell them she's not here.
Because I'm afraid to mark her right now. And if she's not marked and she is their lost member, they have the right to take her back.
I follow Lily's scent to the kitchen and find her and Eleanor laughing over something.
"Lily, your boyfriend has come looking for you." Eleanor teases my mate who giggles and smiles at me.
"I don't suppose you two would want to go...out?" I ask, trying to think of how to tell them to go away. If Eleanor takes Lily somewhere then these strange pack members won't see her and therefore can't take her away from me. This is all assuming that Lily is their lost member of course. But I'd rather not risk it.
"Go out? Like where?" Eleanor asks, as she looks at me like I'm crazy.
"Like...shopping. Isn't that what girls like to do?" I'm already getting desperate. That other pack is supposed to be here in an hour.
"We don't have any money for shopping. So we, Lily?" Eleanor asks, my mate though even I know she's trying to get money from me.
I roll my eyes and track into my back jeans pocket and pull out the green paper stuff that makes girls go crazy. Money.
