Chapter 41: Rescue Mission

Lily -

The pain is indescribable. It feels like fire and it spreads throughout my body and then everything fades as quickly as it came.

"Louis!" I jolt up, wide awake. That dream...it felt so real. I jump out of bed, ignoring the clock that lets me know it's barely three in the morning and run into Louis and Eleanor's bedroom, only to find Eleanor still asleep.

I forgot, louis is still out there looking.

But that dream, the pain felt so real. My mate mark aches and I know it wasn't just an ordinary dream.

Harry is out there and he is still alive.

Niall -

"Maybe we should take him back?"

"Are you that stupid, Niall? Two rogues walking into a territory bringing them their own Alpha when he's in this condition? They'll kill us without giving us the chance to explain." Liam angrily explains.

But I know he's telling the truth. The moment this Alpha's pack see us bringing their Alpha, sick and bloodied, they would kill us in the spot thinking we've done something awful to him. We were lucky enough to get out of the territory with him.

But I'm scared. His fever is still crazy high and I don't think he's getting any better. Liam is doing all he knows to do to help the poor guy, but I can tell that he's frustrated that we can't do more for the guy. Every night Liam says he doesn't know if the guy will make it to morning.

If he does die, someone is sure to find out and then the two of us will be hunted down.

"Maybe if we just...I don't know. Well, Liam we can't just let him die!" The fire springs up slightly and Liam lets out a low growl.

"I know that, Niall! But I've done all I can. It's up to him now to decide how badly he wants to live."

I've had enough of sitting here, waiting for this guy to either die or wake up. It's driving me crazy.

"I'm going for a run." I huff and hurry out of the cave. Before I literally loose my mind.

Liam -

God, it drives me crazy.

I've never been a miracle worker, and Niall just expects me to be a me to help someone come back from any injury? I can't.

Does it hurt me to see some young guy laying there, maybe dying? Yes. But that doesn't mean I can do anything about it. I've already done all I can.

If he could shift back to wolf form, maybe he'd have a better chance. Our wolves can handle everything better than our human forms. But the poor fellow barely has enough strength to even breathe right now, let alone shift.

I kneel next to the guy and unwrap the bandage from his arm, checking the torn and raw flesh underneath. Whoever had attacked him managed to get deep enough to hit bone and snapped the poor guys arm in two. It's one of the worst breaks I've seen, that's for sure. Bone exposed and the surrounding area ripped and torn, the bleeding finally stopped, but the healing will take weeks if not not months. He was obviously in human form and his attacker in wolf form.

I wrap the bandage back and just sit there. Not creepily checking the guy out, because that would be weird. But just staring at him. He looks young for an Alpha, no older than 23 or 24. He's needed a haircut for some time. And he's mated, by the bite mark on his neck. If only he had his mate here.

He has plenty of tattoos, but none that could help me figure out just who he is exactly. No pack symbol, no names or anything.

"You're just not very lucky are you?" Of course I don't expect him to answer.

Niall -

Pitiful excuse, really. Going for a run. Yeah, running into some unknown territory.

Which could get me killed. Or could mean saving the life of that poor guy we've got back at the cave. Liam would just settle for us trying to help him, but that could mean he dies.

And I don't want his death on my conscience.

Stepping into an unknown territory is one of the scariest things to do. Your legs tremble, your teeth chatter and if you're in wolf form, your tail tucks between your legs.

But I've not got time to be scared. I take a deep breath and rush into the woods, searching for someone who will listen to me. They have to, or they could loose their Alpha.

Or they could just kill you the moment they lay eyes on you.

I'm not sure how far I've run, but I'm suddenly shoved to the ground, a low, deep growl coming from the wolf that's leaped onto my back.

"I haven't done anything!" I shriek, expecting teeth and claws to dig into me at any moment.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" The wolf must have shifted.

"My names Niall. And I know where your Alpha is." I'm yanked up from the ground, and shove hard against a tree.

That's going to bruise.

"If you're lying, I'll kill you. Now where is he?" The blue eyed man growls, looking at me like he wants to rip my throat out.

"A cave. It's quite a walk from here-"

"How do you know where he is, anyway?" The man growls.

"We saved him. He was just laying there bleeding to death. We couldn't leave him to die."

"Show me where he is."

And so we run, in wolf form to move faster, until we reach the cave where we're greeted by Liam in wolf form. His brown eyes full of hatred for this strange man I've brought back.

I hurry and shift before a fight breaks out.

"Liam, it's okay! This is a member of that guy's pack." Liam growls before the two men shift back to humans and we head further into the cave.

The blue eyed man gasps when he sees his Alpha and he hurries to his side.

"What the hell have you done to him?!" He growls.

"We have done very thing we can to help him! Don't you dare say-"

"Liam, shut up! His arm was infected and he caught a fever. We've been doing everything we know to help him, but he needs a real doctor now. That's why i came looking for someone in his territory." I explain and the blue eyed man calms down.

"Oh. Thank you both. But I'm taking him to the hospital back in town."

"We'll help you." Wow, Liam's actually being half nice to this guy.

"I just hope we aren't too late."
