Harry -
It's been two months. And I'm not one step closer to finding Shiloh. Louis keeps telling me that she must have given up on her evil schemes. I want to believe him, but my wolf is too suspicious to believe it. And he's not there to ignore.
"You still need to appoint a new head guardsman. Since Dax died you haven't given anyone the post." The elder reminds me and I realize he's right. But how can you replace such a man as Dax was? He was always someone you could trust. And he's the reason I have Lily now. He died trying to keep her safe.
"I'll pick someone soon." I automatically say to the elder who's staring at me like he's ten times superior to me. Typical.
"Good. Any other issues?" Louis asks from his seat beside me, staring at his bites he's been taking all through the meeting.
Everyone looks at each other before agreeing the meeting is over and I am the first to leave the building. Meetings always make me hate myself and I don't like being away from Lily for such stupid things.
Memories from this morning play in my mind as I start to walk home.
I woke up to music from the radio on Lily's phone filling the air. Well, that and her intoxicating scent. She was walking around the room, wearing something I'd recently bought for her. White lace underwear. Black is nice, but white is...wow.
She was gently swaying her hips to the music. Her curves moving perfectly to the beat, her baby bump now being more obvious and I can't help but absolutely love seeing her so exposed for me and loving it. She saw me awake and smiled before climbing over me and giggling.
We'd talked a little, mostly talking about the two nights before when she took me up on my offer to take a late night run in the woods and finding a quiet place. Finally, after two months she'd taken me up on that offer.
All those details are for me and me only.
But when a certain started playing she immediately climbed off me and squealed that it was her favorite song and just had to dance to it. Me just laying on the bed watching as she did.
"Penny for your thoughts." Louis said as he appeared by my side.
"Sex." I said, as if it was nothing.
"What? Here? Now? You sure you want this?" He asks, jumping in front of me and grabbing me by my shoulders, looking around faking nervousness.
"Not with you, idiot! I meant Lily!" I push him away hard and he starts laughing like the crazy Beta he is.
"Aw, I thought we were finally going to do the dirty." He fake pouts and then hurries to catch up with me.
"You've got a wife waiting at home." I remind him and his laughing silences and I look over to see him almost growing down at the ground.
"Something wrong?" I ask.
"Eleanor wants pups." He sighs, stopping walking. I stop beside him and watch as he looks up at the sky before back down to the ground.
"Like she really wants one. Of ours, she doesn't even want adoption." He says, and the stress is so strong you can sense it in the air.
"But she can't. I thought she understood that."
"She seems to have convinced herself that she's an exception to all that. Harry, I don't know what to do. I was so scared this would happen and now it has and...she's stopped taking suppressants." He shakes his head and then runs his hands through his feathery soft hair.
"Is it because Lily's pregnant?" I ask, though I think I already know the answer.
"El wanted pups before Lily came along. Just...I don't know what to do. Her heat is in a week. What am I supposed to do? I can't loose her. I can't." It's the second time I can't help Louis. The first time being when he and Eleanor lost their pup a few years ago. Before Dylan was even born.
I can remember Katy was six months along when Eleanor went into labour and she lost her pup. Katy cried and kept getting so afraid we could loose our baby. Eleanor and Louis's sad loss making the possibility even more real to us. And I would promise her I wouldn't anything like that happen to us.
Little did I know that three months later I would be standing beside her dead body, holding our son. Telling her goodbye for the last time.
"Harry? You okay? You zoned out on me." Louis waves his hand in front of my face snapping me back into current reality.
"I promised her." I say, not feeling like I can control what I just said.
"Promised who? Lily?" Louis asks confused.
"No. Katy. I promised her I wouldn't let anything happen to her."
Louis shakes his head and grabs my shoulders tightly.
"Stop thinking about that. That's in the past and you can't change that. Lily's here and in a few months you'll both have-"
"What if I can't keep that promise to Lily?" I interrupt him. Worry overfilling my mind.
"Run on home. Go play around with Dylan, kiss and hug Lily, talk to that unborn baby if it helps, but do anything to remind you that they're all here for you. Because they love you and they trust you. Remember that." He says strongly before we start walking home again.
I wonder if louis still trusts me?
"And what about you?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Me? Oh, I trust and love you too." He smirks.
"Tomlinson, you're dead!" I growl and shift as he does the same and I chase him home and tackle him on the porch before he could get inside.
"Daddy! Stop playing! Mama wants you." Dylan says as he appears in the doorway.
It makes me smile knowing that Dylan calls Lily his mama now. I shift back as a human and hurry inside to Lily and mines bedroom and feel like the air had been punched out of my lungs at the sight in front of me.
"I know you liked the black and the white. How's red?" She asks, spinning around giving me the full picture.
"Wow." Is all I can say.
