Lily -

I jerk awake in the middle of the night. I look around the room, thinking maybe Harry was home. But he's not, I can't sense him at all.

I walk out of our bedroom and walk in to check on Dylan, who is still fast asleep. I pass Louis and Eleanor's room, and make my way downstairs to the kitchen.

I sit at the table when I feel a sharp pain in my side and then it fades away as quickly as it came. What the hell?

My mate mark stings and I rub my hand over it, trying to soothe the aching stinging.

A dull throb makes my head hurt but then again it disappears. What is happening to me?

"Lily? You alright?" I turn to see Dylan standing at the bottom of the stairs. He was just asleep!

"What are you doing out of bed?" I ask, not answering his question.

"I'm scared. Why isn't daddy home? He didn't tuck me in, he didn't tell me goodnight, and now he's gone and he might never come back." Tears roll down his sweet little face and I can't help but pull him into a hug.

"Oh, Dylan don't cry. Your daddy's just fine. He's probably just out playing in the dark or something. You know how those wolves are." He nods and wipes away his many tears.

"When can I be a wolf?" He asks, sniffling.

"When you turn 16 you will be able to shift into a wolf. Until then, you need to play and get strong and healthy so it won't be hard for you to shift."

"Did daddy have to get strong to shift?" Dylan asks.

"Probably. He's big and strong now, isn't he? And that's why we don't need to worry about him. Because he can take care of himself."

The moment the words came out of my mouth, I knew they weren't true. I don't know how I knew, but I did.

Harry -

I forced myself to keep walking. I can't stop here now.

I pulled my back leg behind me and trudged on walking on my three good legs. I couldn't shift into human form, I know I wouldn't be able to stand the pain.

Blood ran down my face, trickling into my eye, causing me to let out a loud yelp when the sticky red liquid stung my eye.

I have to keep walking.

Luck is a weird thing. One day the world turns of you and you're left without any hope of good luck. But today, the world favored me. I'm walking away from a fight I would never have been able to win. I'd managed to escape the pack of rogues and leftover members of the HalfMoon pack, alive.

I knew trying to fight and win would be suicide, so I listened to my wolf and ran.

I stumble over a tree root and fall to the ground, my whole body feeling achy and too tired to go on. My back leg giving me fits.

I shakily stood back up, as much as my body protested for me not to, I did. I could smell my own territory within reach and I did my best to ignore the intense pain I was feeling and hurried for home.

Louis -

"Do you ever want to try to have a family?" Eleanor's question catches me off guard and I nearly fall out of bed.

"Is that a no?" She asks, sadness in her voice and her face.

"El, you know what they told you." I hate having to say this to my beautiful mate.
