Hope you enjoy.
“Hey Charlotte.” Kayla’s voice sang from behind me, as she slid beside me on the bench. We were sitting outside today. Matt’s arm was around my shoulder as he chatted with Leighton and Jake. He seemed back to normal, and he wasn’t running off as much to see his aunt as much, but I wasn’t complaining. “Hey.” I smiled, “What’s up?”
“nothing much. Just Alex was texting me last night and he said you two hung out on Monday.” She was grinning widely, almost bursting with excitement.
Obviously someone hasn’t mentioned the almost-kiss. I bit my tongue.
I wasn’t thinking about that.
Nor mentioning it.
“You hung out with Alex?” Matthew scoffed, his arm tensing around me. Smirking to myself, I placed my hand on his thigh, tilting my head up and pecking his lips gently.
“Are you jealous, Matty?” I asked.
“You wish.” He replied, “I was just wondering why.”
“He called up, said no-one was free. And a certain someone blew me off, so I decided to go for it.” I shrugged.
“Did you have fun? What’d you think of him? He’s such a gentleman right? And so totally hot. His hair is always so perfect. And he’s so mature for a guy.” Kayla stated dreamily.
Was she talking about a different Alex?
The Alex I’d seen wasn’t a gentleman. He offended me with every sentence. In a jokey way of course, and it made him all the more adorable, but it didn’t make him any where close to a gentleman. He does stupid things like threaten to dump ice-cream on my head and point out clouds shaped like cheeseburgers. He demands late night trips to Minute Mart for skittles and did such things as Eskimo kisses. He laughs hysterically at the slightest funny comment in a movie. If that was maturity, it looks like five year olds were the adults of our generation now.
She was really talking about a different Alex.
And I couldn’t really imagine a that Alex. A mature one. One who acted like a gentleman. He was famous for his immaturity to me. The way he made me laugh as he pointed at clouds that didn’t even look the slightest bit like what he thought they did. When he looked at candy with a bizarrely wondered expression, before picking up 6 packets and scoffing them all on a swing in the dark. The way he Eskimo kissed.
I’m becoming a psycho.
“Charl, babe, Kayla’s been waving her hand in front of your face for like ten minutes.” Matt chuckled, kissing the top of my head.
“Right, sorry.” I blushed, sheepishly. I was daydreaming of her boyfriend while she sat next to me. How clever.
“So what’d you think of him?” Kayla prompted, shaking my arm, staring at me with sparkling baby blue eyes,
“He was great, Kale.” I shrugged, “just a normal guy. Kinda like Leighton.” Her face turned into a frown.
“You found him to be like Leighton?” She clarified.
“In the brother way.” I responded quickly, “not in the jerk, play with girls, sleep with ‘em and leave ‘em, Leighton.”
Her face brightened.
“HEY.” Leighton grinned, “Your just jello you can’t get any of this.”
“And why should she be jealous, when she gets this?” Matt asked, pointing to his own body, smugly.
“Your so full of yourself Leighton.” Kayla laughed. “me and Charl both know your rated a two on the girls wall in the bathrooms.”
“Even Jake’s rated a four.” I added. The girls bathroom wall was kinda famous. Sluts updated it after their latest sexual conquest. In permanent marker. It didn’t fade and once a score was agreed, it wasn’t changed.
“A fucking two?” He growled. “who the hell rated me a two?”
Meeting Kayla’s glance, we both spluttered with laughter at his anger.
And once again it felt like normal times, all of us joking and laughing together, nothing at all out of the ordinary.
“So, you and Alex, huh?” Matt asked, late that night as we lay in my bed. I pressed myself onto my elbow and leant over him, trying to look into his eyes to see where he was going with this, but he turned his head away.
“What?”
“You and Michaela’s boyfriend.” He muttered, “What’s up with that?”
“I told you.” I sighed, placing a hand on his chest, making him look up at me. “He asked to hang out, we did. We looked at clouds and he drove me home. End of.”
“And your sure that’s it?”
“What else could’ve happened, Matthew?”
“anything. You know, if he made a move on you, I’d kill him? Your mine.” He murmured.
“He’s interested in Kayla. Kayla. Not me. Never me. Why in hell would I ever do anything with him when I have you, Matty?” I hoped my voice was as clear as it sounded to my own ears. I couldn’t deal with his anger right now if he sensed I was hiding something from him.
“because you didn’t have me then. I was being a dick.” He snorted, loudly.
“You may have been being a dick, but it didn’t stop me loving you.” I reminded him, curling into his side, resting my head on his arm, to pull myself as close as possible.
“I don’t trust other people around you, Charlotte. Your too carefree for your own good. Someone would make a move and you’d make some bullshit excuse for it just to save an argument.”
“Where is this coming from?” I asked, pulling the covers further up my body.
He didn’t answer, just pressed his lips against mine in a hungry kiss before pulling my into his chest and murmuring,
“I love you.”
I smiled and replied, “I love you too,” but something was up with that conversation.
What did he know?
And who did he know it from?
~What do you all thinks going on with Matthew? Got any ideas?
Hope you liked. Comment? :)
