Chapter 13

Recap:

“Haven’t you heard? There are troublemakers that are smart, and there are troublemakers that are stupid and get caught I said smirking at her. Almost as an afterthought I gently nudged her glass with my mind almost making it fall on her before I righted it using my powers. As I was musing at the fact that using my powers was getting easier and easier Zoey turned in her seat to face me wearing an expression that could freeze flowers in June. This was one of her middle fazes of anger so I wasn’t that worried about her cutting my hair of at night for this.

“You didn’t.” I merely grinned at her as I was thankfully saved by the bell before this could get uglier. Before she could lunge at me or worse start one of her sermons I quickly scooped up all of my dirty dishes on my tray and high tailed out of there not before throwing a, “Race you to class” over my shoulder. I was actually very interested on arriving early to this class as it was Combat II and it’s no secret I like kicking butt.

LUCIENNE’S POV

“Gosh, these shorts really live up to their name.” Zoey exclaimed as she tugged down on the workout shorts she had found in her gym locker. For once I agreed with her, short clothes in public aren’t my thing and much less if we will be fighting in them, but we hadn’t found any workout pants so the shorts had to do. After beating them to the entrance of the school I realized the Special Star Area wasn’t even close to the high school building and that, much to my dismay, we had to take the bus to get there, I so needed to save up for a car.

When Zoey and Brain caught up with me Brain offered us a ride, already knowing we would need wheels so we piled up in to his electric blue fiesta and headed towards the SS Area. Like everything in this academy the buildings were a little bit far away from each other, with thick mini forests in between so at first I thought that what Brain pointed out as the SS Area was just a tiny building covered by trees, but as soon as we set foot in there, I knew it was anything but.

Zoey and I were greeted by a receptionist that after asking our names gave us a pair of keys and a grounds map were we found directions to our class room and the girls locker rooms.

“Last call for Combat II.” A mechanical voice announced throughout the building.

“Come on hurry up that’s us.” I urged as we took the final steps towards the SS training area.

LOUKA’S POV

“Hey! That’s cheating.” I cried indignantly while rubbing my now sore torso. I had been sparring with Nate as we waited for class to start and the mangy bastard had distracted me with his fire and pummeled me almost to a pulp.

“All is fare in war and love mate.” He replied with his trademark smirk, amusement clear in his eyes. I narrowed my eyes at him as he offered me his hand so I could get up.

“All is fare my a…” My throat clogged up at the site of a beautiful blond entering the training room, with a little jolt I realized it was Zoey, the little friend of the girl that had caught Nate’s eye who was also entering the training room. It had been 3 hours and I still had her face fresh in my mind. At the exact moment the final bell rang signaling the start of class I felt a clap to the back of my head making me turn around and glare at Nate.

“Keep your head in the game Louka.” Nate teased. I simply scowled at him and made my way towards Coach Wang who had just entered the training room.

“Round it up kids, we have two new students in our area today so let’s give them a warm welcome. Lucnar! Sunniva! Up front, now!” Lucienne easily glided towards the front with little Zoey in tow and they both turned to face the class together and not for the first time in the day I found myself lost in those almond colored eyes who were gazing back at me bashfully.
