Recap:
"What do you think he meant with me being the Light and you the Dark" I whispered to Lucienne.
"Don't worry about it, he was probably just referencing our senses of humor" But I could tell she wasn't just whatever about this since she was chewing on her lip and had a faraway expression, a nervous habit that had made many nerds in our AP classes swoon when she was answering oral exams.
Instead of pestering her and knocking her out of her thinking I stayed silent and watched as we passed many industrial looking doors until we stopped at the last one. Instead of having a knob with a key slot it had an expensive looking electronic keypad in which Brian introduced a 10 digit code, the door clicked and soon he was ushering us in.

ZOEY'S POV
"Jeshh it looks like an alien puked in here" Lucienne exclaimed, and I couldn't agree more.
We were inside Brian's lab that was about the size of half a warehouse and littered everywhere you could see robot parts, half-finished designs and blu-prints, unidentifiable objects in green liquid filled tanks and what seemed to be like half eaten food in every niche and nook.
"Sorry, I haven't gone around to bringing a cleaning bot to dust the place up" Brian said rather sheepishly.
"Please tell me you don't sleep in here" I said a little horrified.
"I wish, but sadly I have to room with three idiots." Brian frowned at the end. "Any how please take a seat" He motioned towards what I first had thought were oversized pieces of metal. They were just that but they were shaped into chairs. We sat down.
"What can we do?" Lucienne said bluntly
"Right to the chase huh?" Brain murmured as he produced two manila folders from underneath his "chair".
"According to your test, you two have what's more commonly called spell caster type, a type of ability rarely seen in our times. As you probably already know, we prodigies are distinguished because thanks to a junk DNA strand we can manipulate the energy the world emanates, but there's a catch. Depending on the person the energy manifest under our control. Like me, my ability permits me to asses other peoples needs and create the things there that will sate that need. In other words I'm a tech type meaning I have an extra sense for anything technological, but I can't do anything else. I can't metabolize de energy I receive to let's say fly, or shoot lasers out of my eyes, and even the amount of energy I can use is limited given each person. The thing about the spell caster types is that they have the ability to use the energy they receive in any kind of way they can think of, and sometimes, in any amount they can think of."
"So you're saying that I could make this place spontaneously combust?" Lucienne asked disbelieving.
"You could, if you had a way to channel all that energy, you see the only down side spell caster types have is that the possibilities of their power are so endless that when they start using their powers there brain can't consciously control it all, so they need something to help them direct it until they can get a hang of it all."
"But wait, we protected ourselves from that crash..." My throat closed up remembering that we were now more or less orphans. I felt Lucienne hug me and dry a stray tear that had escaped away.
"Yeah it's in your files, the thing is you didn't do that consciously, your brain didn't see any physical way to escape so it let your subconscious let out a fraction of your power and protect you, because that was what you were looking for, a way to protect yourselves."
