Chapter 44
I decided I would learn this spell before Halloween, 1981. Well before. Probably by March, I should be gone. I thought. I snapped the book closed, and checked it out. The school was swarming with students, as it was mid-October. Only a few months until I had to leave.
By Christmas, I had the spell down. All that was left for the spell, was who specifically I was going to perform it on. I had written a list, in a notebook I stole from Lily. I have absolutely no idea why she would have one, but meh, whatever.
I sat down on my side of my and Remus' bed, facing Anna's crib. For a moment, I watched the mobile spin, the unicorns dancing in midair. Lily, Michaela, Molly Weasley and I had spent hours making five of them, for Anna, Harry, Jamie, and Ginny and Ron Weasley. I missed those times, but I shook my head of the thoughts, and kneeled on the floor. Carefully lifting the loose floorboard, I felt around aimlessly for a leather notebook.
"Aha!" I whisper-shouted, though there was no need to be necessarily quiet. Remus had taken Anna to Sirius' house to play with Jamie and Harry, and the male Marauder's could catch up on the outside horrors. I picked the book up, and sat on the bed again. Flipping open to the second page, I read my list of people again.
Lily and James Potter
-possibly Harry as a precaution
Michaela, Sirius and Jamie Black
Remus and Arianna Lupin
Arielle Malloy
Molly and Arthur Weasley (and kids) ?A tear leaked from my eye, as I read through the names multiple times. In an effort to stop my emotions from taking control, I flipped a few pages to another list. A list of different characters, people. I flipped through probably about five pages, so five, completely different, people. I had been planning on leaving for months, and I knew I would need a disguise. I sighed and rubbed my temples. Just thinking about leaving everyone hurt my head, and my heart. I hated to see Remus go to Sirius' house with Anna.
After placing the notebook back under the floorboard, I flopped on my back, and promptly fell asleep.
I was in what looked like a fifteen or sixteen year old girl's guest room. The only reason I could tell it was a guest room, was that being that age twice already, I knew no girl would paint their room white and grey, and have no posters and limited stuff.
There was a girl in the room, and she seemed familiar, though I couldn't place how or why. She was sat on the queen size bed, a book in front of her. The girl's brown hair was pulled in a ponytail at the base of her neck. Glancing at the window, I almost chocked on air. It was definitely not anywhere near where I've ever been. And by the look of stuff in the front yard, I was absolutely not in present time...
"Jamie! Can you come down here?!" A voice, sounding like a woman, shouted. The girl, supposedly Jamie, sighed quietly and stood up from her bed and put her book down. After marking the page, she opened the door and walked out. Wanting to know what was going on, I followed the young girl.
"Jamie! I need you to come to the family room now please!" The woman shouted again. She sighed again. The other woman's voice sounded faintly familiar, but not as much as the girl I was following.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Jamie shouted back. It almost sounded like this was a usual occurence, kind of like when James and I would prank dad or Remus and Sirius when they came over.
I followed this Jamie girl, and we walked into the family room, and we were faced by two women. My hand flew to my mouth. This was just a dream, right? I mean, Jamie would have felt my presence if I was really there. But the women in front of me shocked me. Sitting there, were older versions of Luna Lovegood, and Ginny Weasley.
