"That has all of your things?" I asked her doubtingly as we walked through the halls. Most of the students were in classes now.
"Yeah. Professor shrunk it so it was easier for me to carry it" she replied.
Once we got down to Hogsmeade, I told her to hold onto my hand tightly and disapparated.
Chapter 14
The kind man took my hand and we disappeared with a crack. I felt as if I was going to throw up, it was bad. I was being squeezed into a tight tube, and when I finally felt as if I wasn't going to be able to breathe, we landed outside a small house.
"This is your new home, Jamie" the man told me. I smiled and followed him to the door.
"Um, excuse me, but what is your name? I can't remember." I said to him, and he chuckled.
"My name is Remus, but you can call me Moony if you want" he replied.
"Can I call you Uncle Moony? Or Uncle Remus? Because I know you aren't my dad." I replied, and he smiled sadly.
"I am your godfather, and I was very good friends with your mum and dad. You can call me whatever you would like" Uncle Moony said and I laughed.
He had me follow him down the hall, and he brought me to a bedroom. It was painted blue and pink, two colors I didn't really like, but they were okay. I hugged him, and put my trunk on the floor (Uncle Moony had enlarged it) and went to sleep in my new bed.
5 Years Later (Jamie: age 10)
When I turned 8, I started getting these night terrors, and they involved my Uncle Severus. After them, I wasn't able to go to his house, otherwise I cower in my room, not eating or doing anything. I was absolutely terrified. So, now Uncle Remus has an old college of his watch me for a few days while he had his transformations.
I had made two friends in my time with Uncle Moony. Their names? Harry and Anna. Harry was unhappy at his home, where he lived with his aunt, unlce and cousin, because his parents died in a car crash. Anna, lived at the local foster home. She's been through hell and back, according to her. And one letter would rip me apart from them for a few years.
"Jamie! Dinner is ready!" Uncle Remus shouted down the hall.
"Coming!" I shouted back, and put down my book, placing the paper in the book, marking my page. I walked down the hall to the kitchen, and smelt eggs and sausage. Yum. Breakfast for dinner!
"Eggs?" I stated as I walked in the room. Uncle Remus laughed and sipped his hot chocolate while reading the Daily Prophet. I sat across from him at the counter, and started eating my eggs. Scrambled with cheddar cheese, my favorite.
I took the mug in front of me and drank the hot chocolate, even though it was July. Hot chocolate and Ice cream are good year round, not just designated time of year.
"Anything interesting?" I asked my godfather.
"No, not really. This week is the full moon, right?" he replied. I nodded, and he sighed. I felt bad, he hated the full moons, due to his, uh, 'furry little problem' as his old friends had put it.
I heard a tapping on the window a few moments later. "I'll get it." I said, although we both knew Uncle Remus wouldn't be able to, as he was so weak.
I thanked the owls as I took the letters. Yes, owls. There was two, and one wouldn't leave. I shrugged and while walking back to Moony, I looked through the letters. Two were from some of Moony's job interviewers, most likely saying he didn't get the job. Then, at the bottom, was a letter addressed to me.
"Moony! I got a letter!" I exclaimed as I sat down.
"Really, now? You're to young to go to Hogwarts, so that's not it. Open it, and see." he replied. Moony knew though, it was written all over his face.
I opened the letter and it read:
Dear Miss J. Evans,
We are pleased to tell you that you have been accepted to Durmstrang Institute. We are aware you do not speak or understand Bulgarian, but we have that sorted for when you arrive.
Please send an answer with the owl accompanying this letter, no later than July the 25th. Your list of supplies is enclosed.
We hope to see you on August the 25th. Your ticket will have your information for that day.
Thank you,
Professor Andreev
Deputy Headmaster
I was honestly, so surprised.
"I thought I was going to Hogwarts? I can't go to Hogwarts if I'm going to Durmstrang." I remarked to Uncle Remus. He nodded.
"You know of your night terrors, correct? Not going to Hogwarts will protect you for a few years. Soon enough you will be going to Hogwarts, but for now, you will be going to Durmstrang. Okay?" he replied.
I nodded, not really knowing what to say.
I helped clean up, and went to my room to read. Eventually, I fell asleep, trying to wrap my head around everything that had happened.
