As I wake up, bright lights made me squint. I hear the soft beep of a monitor and feint voices talking amongst themselves. I look around, now adjusted to the light, and see no one here. I see that I'm in the hospital and when Cheyenne walks in she grins widely.
She must have mind linked Cody because he comes bursting in along with a few of my other friends from the pack. Cheyenne hugs me and I weakly hug her back.
The doctor comes in and looks at the clipboard, flipping papers back and forth. A look of confusion flashes on his face, eyebrows scrunched together, and that's never good.
"Alpha Amelia, have you by any chance eaten 4 grams of pure silver?" He asks, obviously not serious. It takes 5 grams to kill a wolf, 6 to kill me.
"Someone poisoned me?" I assume awestruck. How is that possible? The doctor nods and I groan.
"But who? Who could get past my pack and poison me without my noticing?" I look around to a few of my pack members, and they all seem as shocked and confused as I am.
"But what if it's not someone who had to get past your pack?" Cheyenne suggests and my eyes scrutinize everyone there and take note of everyone who isn't.
"What if it was an ally pack?" There were very few but we did have allies. The Yellow Crescent pack was the most trusted. No one would question it if they were to enter.

After getting out of the hospital, still not fully well, I called a meeting with The Yellow Crescent Pack. The agreed immediately and we met in neutral territory.
Cheyenne and Cody were by my side as we stood before a few men. I opened my mouth to start but was interrupted by someone coming through the door.
Before I could even look to see him, an ocean masculine scent hit me, making me swoon. His eyes were a chocolate drown and hair curly and styled. He was skinny, like a twig, and pale.
Mate!
My heart stopped and I smiled. He met my eyes and the world stopped, I wanted to run to him, but couldn't find it in me to move. His beta, I'm guessing, pulled him down and held a small smile.
Cheyenne did the same to me and Cody rolled his eyes. What's his problem? I clear my throat before starting.
"I have called you here today, for a very important meeting. Last week, my pack was attacked by rogues. As we were battling, I grew weak and fell unconscious. The doctor informed me that I had been poisoned with 4 grams of pure silver." Everyone gasps and I see my mate's face grow paler.
"I know it takes 5 to kill a wolf but most of you know I'm not a wolf." My mate looked confused and my fox begged me to announce it. "I'm a fire fox." Mate started choking on the water that he had taken a drink of. His beta patted his back and the man's coughing fit came to a halt.
I chuckled as he gestured for me to continue.
"It takes 6 grams to kill me, although I am not dead, I am very weak. The only way someone would have been able to poison me without my noticing, is if it were part of mine or your pack, seeing as you're the most trusted." Mate's eyes darkened.
"Why assume it was us? What good would it do us to poison you, as we are allies!" He said defensively and the beta calmed him once again.
