Cheyenne was a mess, so she said she wanted to go away for a while. After a few days, she decided to visit the humans; a vacation of some sorts. She wanted to go some place where she wouldn't hear about any packs or clans.
When she left, Tray and I got right to work. We told Haden and Logan, who had become more of brothers to me. They discussed battle plans and ways to kill him.
"Guys!" They ignored me and kept talking. "No, we can't use silver. Silver won't kill him, we realized that when Cheyenne tried to kill him."
"Guys!" They continued to ignore me, so like any other person would, I screamed at them.
"GUYS!" Unintentionally, my flames ignited and my eyes began to turn orange. I have never lost control.
What was happening to me?
"Amelia, calm down." Tray eased and my flames extinguished.
"We can't kill him." They all looked at me like a human would look at me if I had shifted. "We can't kill him, because, we don't know what he is. We don't know his weaknesses, what fuels him, or most importantly, what kills him. For all we know we could try to kill him and end up making him stronger. We have to to our research before our report." I demanded.
"She's right. We have to do our research, and we're going to have to do it fast." Logan agreed. Haden and Tray agreed also, but there was one question left.
"So how do we do that? We can't get close to him or he'll kill us. We don't know who is allies are." Haden asked, and for the second time this week I didn't know.
"We need to ask around. We need to look at the things we know, because they might lead us to the things we don't know." I suggested.
"So what do we know?" Logan inquired.
"Purple eyes. Mood swings. Despises vampires." They understood and we set off.
We all agreed on starting in the morning, since it was too late for anyone to be up. Tray was half asleep by the time we arrived home, and mumbled that he was going to bed.
I stayed up all night trying to find out what may be the case. I reached for my laptop and typed in key words.
"Purple eyes, mood swings, despises vampires." There were about a billion searches. I should've known better than to use a human source, but I knew I had to try everything.
I continued to search through the websites, trying to pick up any information but all I could find were fairytales.
"Amelia?" Tray's voice broke through the wall of thought surrounding my head. "Did you stay up all night?" I then realized it was morning, around 10:00am.
"We have to start the investigation. Now." I ignored his earlier question and quickly got dressed. Tray was giving me a worried look and grabbed my arm before I could walk out the door.
"Tray, we don't have time. We have to go now." He didn't let go immediately, but stared at me with so many emotions. Finally, he sighed and released my arm.
We all spit up, going alone to different packs and clans. I had asked all over but only reviving questioning looks and some people were too afraid to talk to me.
Until I reached a house that no one had mentioned, in fact, I almost missed it.
Almost.
I knocked on the door covered in vines. It looked like it hadn't been open in years, but I could smell someone alive. No one came to the door, so I knocked again.
A few seconds later, a very beautiful woman showed at the door. She appeared timid and distant, and her innocence made me smile.
"I'm sorry to bother you. My pack, actually maybe everyone is in danger. Do you know anything that is related to a creature with purple eyes, mood swings and is enemy of the vampires?" She stared at me, blankly for a moment, before her eyes widened.
"Why don't you come inside?" She opened the door further and I entered her home.
The house was nearly put together, the opposite of the outside of her house. I sat down on the white couch and she sat across from me.
"These creatures can control the mind. They can get inside your head and do whatever they want with you. They stay in the shadows, that's why you've never heard of them. They're..they're purely evil, but they look human. They're called Banshees. Not all of them are bad, but most of them are. If you're dealing with a banshee then my best advice is to run and never look back." She advised and I sighed.
"I can't do that. They're after my family." Her eyes flashed with sympathy, and for once I didn't detest it.
"I can help you." She admitted and immediately, my hopes got up.
"You can? Oh my- thank you! I have to call my team. Just a moment." I picked up the phone and called Tray and he called Haden. I then called Logan and they were soon at the unique house.
"Ma'am, I just realized. I never got your name." I announced.
"Lily Anderson."
"I love that name. This is my..uh..partner Tray." Now that I thought about it, what were we? "And this is Tray's first command, Haden and my thir- second actually. Logan is my second command." I realized that Cody was no longer around and Logan had now taken his spot.
"How do we get rid of him?" Logan asked, directly.
"You'll need another banshee. In order to beat him you have to know what he's thinking. You have to be able to get into his mind." Tray, Haden, and Logan all looked at me and I sighed.
"I can read minds. I can hear thoughts like they're being said aloud but only when I focus on it." I admitted to which she smiled.
"You're The Firefox, aren't you?" She smiled gently. Everything about her was gentle, innocent even. She was like this flower that was planted in a burning forest, but yet remained untouched. Which meant something had to be protecting it.
Suddenly my trust for her vanished, but she didn't need to know that. She needed to think I fully trusted her, because otherwise she would hold back.
You know what they say: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
"Yeah, I am. Amelia Collins, shall we get started?"
