I rarely got my day off bilang owner kaya alam na nila sa café kung okay ba ako or not kasi kapag wala ako, ibig sabihin, I had to take my rest—emotionall, mentally, and spiritually.
I did have an introvert mode and embraced my solitary moments during these occasions. May times na party-goer ako, but I preferred my lone times more than being with anyone na hindi ko naman masyadong kilala.
Melanie has a baking class today kaya hindi ko maaya sa labas, so I ended up staying at home and staring at the city view from my condo's balcony.
And I was definitely ready to spend my whole day alone, pero . . .
"Good morning, Miss Rosenthal."
After a single doorbell, I found Rico in front of my door, smiling at me sweetly.
"Actually, no."
"Hmm, nope."
"Then why are you here?"
Yes, I was blocking the doorway while interrogating him.
"I called the Purple Plate's line. Day off mo raw."
"Exactly."
He looked at me from head to toe. Well, I just wore a loose tank top and dolphin shorts showing some skin. I didn't even bother wearing a bra, but Rico's eyes didn't look so interested in my body. Mas mukha pa nga siyang disappointed at parang inaasahang makikita akong naka-formal dress sa loob ng bahay ko sa mismong day off ko.
Rico was confusing me. And there was Rico Dardenne, looking at me na para akong lumangoy sa putikan.
"Yes, I get it," casual niyang sagot.
"Meaning, day off ko sa Earth. Like . . ." Napatingin pa ako sa itaas. "I'm not free to go out." Saka ko ibinalik ang tingin sa kanya.
"So may I go in?" he then said, pointing his hand inside my unit.
"What do you want?"
"You."
Tumaas agad ang kilay ko. Not sure if manhid lang ba ako o nauumay sa mga pickup line kaya instead na kiligin, parang nairita pa ako sa sagot niya.
