Warnings: Reader dealing with depression

Author's Note:  I can write stories from the back of my hand, but I can't for the life of me write lyrics. So in this story, I used Jimmy Eat World's 'Hear You Me'. The lyrics are NOT mine. They belong to their rightful owner(s).

It was summer and there was a rainstorm. The sun was no where to be found, the white cotton clouds turned into dark grey clouds, lightening struck every few seconds, and the thunder boomed so loud, making the windows in your house shake with every hit. There wasn't any wind trashing the trees and plants in every direction, but the rain was heavy and pouring non-stop.

In your dark room, you sat on your bed with your legs tucked underneath you and stared out your window. You focused on the little rivers streaming down your window.

Today, the world was dark, but for you it was another dark, gloomy, sad, and painful day. You've had these kinds of days everyday since Allison's death, but storms like this made you feel the pain a hundred times worse. It was like the rain felt, understood, and was going through the same pain you were. It reminded you why you were angry, sad, broken, and hurt in the first place. You wanted nothing more than to let the rain wash away the pain of yesterdays, but you know that was impossible. It wasn't that simple.

You didn't hear the soft knock on your door. You didn't hear Scott walking in. You didn't even notice him sitting next to you until he wrapped his arm around you and gave your shoulder a small squeeze. You turned around and locked eyes with your brother's, only to see his brown chocolate eyes were clouded with worry. "Are you okay?"

You didn't answer because you knew you were exactly the same as you were yesterday, the day before, and every day since Allison's death. You were numb. You were lost. You were broken. You weren't used to living in a world without Allison, and you couldn't accept trying to live your life without her, because it felt so wrong. Yes, she would have wanted you to live your life, especially since she scarified herself for you, your brother, and your friends, but you just weren't ready yet. Everyone grieves in their own way, at their own pace.

Instead of answering Scott's question, you looked back out the window and watched the little rivers streaming down your window again.

"Are you going to your singing lesson today?"

"No," a soft whisper escaped your lips, but Scott heard it loud and clear.

"Why not, Y/N?"

"Don't feel like singing anymore." You answered in a monotone.

"But you love singing. Allison loved hearing you sing and I'm sure if you sing, she'll hear you."

Your head snapped back at Scott, you were surprised you didn't get whiplash. "Don't." You hissed between your clenched teeth.

Scott sighed and didn't press on the subject anymore. He just left you alone and closed the door behind him, leaving you to your thoughts as you stared out the window.

It's been months and nothing seemed to change. You still spaced out during school, at home, and anywhere else really, because your mind always came back to Allison. You stopped going to your singing lessons because you kept cancelling your sessions. You didn't have it in your heart to sing anymore, as you felt like you had nothing to sing about.

The pack walked on eggshells for you. They made sure never to bring up Allison's name anytime you were around. You were getting tired of it, but you couldn't seem to find a way to get out of this state of mind. You needed something to change in your life, to bring back the old you, but you didn't care enough to put in the effort. Until you met Liam Dunbar, your brother's beta.
